2013 F20 116i steptronic red warning triangle

Hi All,

I am looking at buying a 2013 f20 116i for my wife. i found an extreamly clean second hand but am not too clued up about this car. dealer wants 220k and it has 95k on the clock, i think its the Msport because it has the sport switch but not the M kit or rims.
when i view the car i noticed a red warning triangle displayed on the dash, after starting the car it was still viable.

1. Is this a good price to pay for this car?
2. Are there any specific things that i need to look out for in this car?
3. How reliable are the steptronic gearbox?

Thanks
Nishan

Hi Nishan.
Welcome to the forum.

Best you stay away from those 16i/18i motors.
They have proven unreliable after 80000km by many people on the forum and friends that I know of.

The 20i motors are much better.

Good luck...

One more thing...

At that price, may I recommend the 20d instead. More specifically the 320d.

Really solid cars with great performance and epic fuel economy...

Is this a BMW dealer?

If not, make sure they do the transfer of the Motorplan at their own expense, BMW will take the car through a vehicle inspection before the car is sold, to successfully transfer the MP over to you.

If it were m, i would extend the motorplan, sometimes the dealer will do this at their own expense, to sweeten the deal.

Im not clued up on this model, so do some reading on the WWW.

Get the VIN number and pull a MP history to give you and idea of what has been done to the car.
