hi guys,

i need all my fellow members to help me please.

i need a daily driver for the sandton commute- looking at a nice BMW 120d for fuel efficiency as well as an auto for the traffic.

found this on the autotrader

2012
Power Steering, Park distance control, Multi function steering wheel, Mags, Leather seats, Immobiliser, Front electric windows, Electric mirrors, …

46,500 km
Coupe
2.0 L
Diesel

what are your views on this ? looking for a good solid daily driver thats comfy and efficient.
obvious issues are servicing? are there reputable places around Jozi where i can get this done as i intend keeping this car for a while.

if you have other suggestion please let me know- budget is 340k

thanks guys

how is the longevity on these motors with an auto box?

bearing in mind the car has 80k on the clock

For your price range I think its pretty evident that you can get a F30 320d, or alternatively a F20 120d. (not too sure what shape the model is that you are mentioning in your initial post).

The engines and gearboxes are rock solid, even after 100 000km Just make sure the car that you are purchasing has some form of motorplan left. This will ensure that you can sort out any potential problems. Also, services are free under plan, meaning no additional cost, and no risk.

Once motorplan expires, it is advisable to get your gearbox serviced. It is also advisable that you stick to your normal service intervals. If you look after your car, it will look after you.

The N47 is reliable and the ZF boxes too... Over engineered boxes... I drove my 320d until 90k kms and I drove that car very hard brake boosting whenever I felt like it ... I am pretty sure it would have lasted even after plan! For that money look at the F chassis... You could even get a 5 series for that moola.. My2c :chef:
