Hi GENTS,

I plan on buying a well specd 32od m sport White in color with 95000km motor plan until 100 000kms, my questions as follows:

1. Do you think its worthwhile extending the motor plan? what will it cost?
2. WHat would the cost be on normal services and maintenance with no motor plan?
3. your expert feedback on this car would be appreciated.

Thanks guys, I always wanted a 320d and hopefully i wont go wrong.

How much are you paying for the car? How much is BMW quoting for MP?

I have just posted about my X3 which is going out of MP tonight and I have to say I am nervous on the one hand but on the other hand, the car has historically cost 0,28c/km to service from 0km to 100k km.

My previous BMW was a 2010 320D Sportpack and I extended the MP to 130 000km at a cost of R 1.12/km

BMW quoted me the equivalent of R1.32/km Excl VAT to extend by 20 000km on my X3.

Only time will tell if that would have been a cheaper option:biglol:

1. Get the Motorplan printout and see what parts have been replaced under pan to gauge if it might be a problematic car.
2. Get a quote from BMW on how much the extension would cost (I can pretty much guarantee you it will be excessive)
3. If the MP report comes out clean I wouldnt bother to extent. Use the remainder of the 5000km to sort out any possible issues. These 320d's are not problematic cars.
4. Once you hit 100 000km, get your gearbox serviced @ ZF, and you will be good to go for another 200 000km.

To give you an idea on service cost and consumables (I have the exact same car):
BMW air filter R871
BMW oil Filter R291
BMW Diesel filter R617
Oil (5.5l): R304 (Midas Fourways)

Serviced @ Ross Duncan, Labour: R1050

1. No not by mileage you don't benifit from it unless the car explodes.

2. Services under R2000. Maintenance depends... turbo goes 12k plus minus. Crank shaft damper 5k.
3. Very nice daily.

Not sure what you're paying. But you'll find buying one out of plan you'll get a better price.

Thanks Gents, I have decided not to take the car. will be looking for something similar closer to the end of the year or even a X3 2.0d.
