I see BMW have a special going on the 320i, 'from R3999'... Better not let them see this thread, otherwise they might cut my brakelines the next time I take my car in for a service. :mmm:

Maybe we should tell BMW SA to advertise on Toyota, Ford and Tata's forums... Sure those people are dying to get into a BMW.

I saw that special. I am considering it for my wife. Audi also has a special @ R4500 pm, and then you don't need a deposit. IMHO the 1.8 TFSI motor is awesome. It is an entry level A4 you could buy even if you are worried about performance. I am just pissed off about audi's low resale for their own cars.

EDIT: I see its R4850 instead of R4500

Apart from the resale value, they battle to structure good deals IMO, I have a lady working with me who bought a 2010 A4 for R384 000 and she is paying R1500 a month more than what I'm paying on the Dynamic which cost R412 000. Finance terms are virually the same, but they charged her for each eaxtra on the car even thou its a car with 21000km on!

Audi also doesn't have the R40 000 kick back from the factory that BMW has on new cars sold.

Audi generally doesn't finance below prime either, was considering an A3 but that put me off a tad. BMW is giving at prime less 5% and furthermore were willing to personally give me prime less 2% on something from their premium selection. Much better sales service with BMW

If you are talking about the R40k trade in assist, audi had the same promotion running too.
And structuring deals depends on the contact person and credit record. I actually see it as a bad thing if you pay LESS without knowing why. They have a tendency to do the HP over 60 months and work in a residual without you knowing, and thats bad. It has to be an active choice. But charging extra for second hand extras is just lame, but, still negotiable. So I am not letting that put me off :)

I did not notice. BTW, the finance deal at the moment for the A4 is 5.85%, which is well below the prime of 9.5%.

Oh I did not know that :) My bad. The salesman failed to mention it though, just said prime finance rate on a demo A3.
5.85% is not bad at all

Lending rate is 9% not 9.5%, 5.85% is a huge saving:shocked:

Its a hard choice between the A4 1.8T and the 320i, ESPECIALLY at the reef. My previous car was a A4 1.8T and was potent. I had the previous shape (B7) so I don't know how the new B8 handles, but mine felt like a big boat after I drove the 320d. And BMW etches out as a winner when it comes to the services so far. My personal choice would be the A4 though, sorry :mmm:

Considering how much car you get for your money when matching up the 2, the A4 wins especially considering you comparing entry level vehicles. My uncle just took delivery of a 2010 A4 2.0T demo for 360k and other than extras the car came with the in-dash screen, and something similar to i-drive as standard amongst other things. Not sure if this is the same with the 1.8T but if so then the Audi is worth it. I doubt you need to worry about things like FWD if it's just a 'pool car' as such for the wife? :dunno:

I get excellent interest rates because because my house is almost fully paid up and the only other debt I have is my cars (Both financed below prime)

If only views were hp...

Idea:idea: We could use the amount of views as a petition and give it to BMW and say: Up the power on the 320i! See how many people are unhappy about the measly 115kW! :thumbdo:

Its not the 115kw thats the problem, its the torque and the altitude powerloss. The audi A4 has 118kw and is sufficiently fast because you don't have to drive the living sh!t out of it to overtake. High-revving engines don't work when lugging around that much weight. Same as trying to place a motorcycle engine inside a small hatchback. The power would be better, but the car would be undrivable.
I do see closure to this issue in the next year or so, because I suspect that all the engines will be replaced by lower capacity turbo-charged units. So even a charged 1.6l 320i with 100kw would still be alot better than the 2.0l unit in the e90.
