A brief history:
Forum member brukutu (Bruno) bought a Z4M coupe on 98 000km. A new motor was fitted under motorplan at 88 000km mid 2014 which is a major selling point. Bruno only put on 3000km on the car before he decided to sell it in January 2016 with 101 000km.

Fast forward 9 months and TBP88 (Thomas) starts a thread in search of a Z4 here: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=76158
Thomas and myself got in contact via whatsapp as he was in Cape Town and he couldn't find anything decent in the western cape. He asked if I could check out some for him in jhb, I happily obliged and drove to Benoni with torch, clipboard and pencil in tow to see a Z4 M Coupe. It was a 2006 with 137 930km on the clock, front brakes were finished, interior mirror had leaked out, achillies tyres, driver's door card had a hole from elbows, rear speaker cover and surrounding plastics were broken, MAF was faulty and lastly there was diff whine under engine braking. The repair costs didn't reflect with the asking price, next.
Thomas then stumbled upon Bruno's old thread, the car was still for sale but had picked up 8000km in the last 9 months and the price had dropped. Bruno brought the car to me to view after he had to cancel the first viewing just before I got there. The car arrived on racing wheels with semi slick tyres and a go pro mount stuck to the roof, Bruno said he never tracked the car. Anyway, went through the car on the lift and noted all the faults and parts to be replaced. This is where the pictures start.
On the night Bruno brought the car:
A few days go by and Thomas has struck a deal. Bruno then dropped the car off with me while Thomas made the payment. That evening:
Ordered a bunch of parts.
Started on the rear bumper, centre and left mounts were broken.
Spotted some body filler.
New vs broken centre mount.
Done.
I then deleted the sub and amp at Thomas' request.
Next up, the front plastics. Both the brake duct and the pork chop plastic were broken.
Propshaft rubber coupling was shot! It had 109 000km on it.
New vs old
New gearbox mounts
Gearbox cross member cleaned and new mounts fitted.
While the exhaust was off, I noticed one of the post cat sensors was loose so I tightened it up.
Before exhaust removal I marked the sensors.
Cat delete, not the best way of doing it.
These exhaust rubbers needed replacement too.
Engine mounts were kaput!
Front disc and pad change
Front pad sensor was melted!
Did the front control arms and sway bar end links the same time.
Original wheels were included with the sale, however they were in need of refurbishment.
Tyre pressure monitor
Wheels back from refurbishment.
On the car.
By accident I broke the head of my old vacuum brake bleeder so I had to buy a new JTC one from Spec Tools near Crown Mines.
Put straight to work. Brake fluid flush.
Yum. 109 000km most probably.
Diff oil change.
Covers going back on. Cleaned first obviously.
Looked a little beaten so I straightened it out.
Air filter replaced.
Maf was dirty! Cleaned it with Maf cleaner but some stains stayed behind.
Deleted some stickers and things not needed.
Deleted aftermarket tyre pressure monitor, bluetooth car kit, usb charger and aftermarket navigation mount.
Found 2 tracking units that were draining the battery in the DME box.
Fixed the indicator fault, only one indicator globe was lighting up in the headlight, was a loose connection.
Fault free cluster.
For the next stage the car was off to Peter for vanos and shims checkup so I extracted some engine oil and replaced it with ATF so the car can be driven slowly to Peter's place where the spark plugs and oil change will take place.
Spark plugs, oil filter and oil in the boot.
One final picture before she left for Peter's place where Thomas would collect her from after had done his work.
