2006 E60 550i Heater stopped circulating hot air

OK, so I'm beginning to regret buying this car. My climate control is always set on 21 degrees Celsius on auto selection. Keeps the car temperature controlled no matter what the outside temperature. We all know this works well.
Dropping a friend off at Lanseria one early morning the outside temp was an indicated 14.5 and usually the car heats up the interior pretty swiftly.
Not this time. It was getting really chilly inside the car and I pushed the temp up a bit, still no difference.

Eventually out of desperation I deselected the auto climate control, put the temp on full heat, blower to max. Nothing. Aircon was off now, so no further cooling took place, but there was no heat coming through.

It used to work perfectly through winter last year on the auto setting. Out of nowhere it's not heating anymore.

Any ideas guys?
Thanks
