2005 X5 3.0D Sudden loss of power

Happened to a mate of mine. Didn't pick up errors either strangely. Car boosted normally again after new maf.

Guys I'm worried last night I was just overtaking other car then putting my foot more to acceleratexplore as to cover time for incoming traffic then I heard once off sound as if there's something coming loose or breaking underneath then I felt that this car drops then I pulled it off the road but didn't switch it off idling was normal, then I firstly selected"R" and it reverses normally, applied again "P" all was well then moved to "D" and just pulled normally with balanced rerves, but now it's like it's ends on 2nd or 3rd gear no take off it hesitates, no warning signs came up

I need ur knowledge guys please what maybe the causes of that

I've had this issue with my X6 before and it was the transfer case that was damaged. Take it to ZF - Nico will sort you out. Good luck

Where's ZF-Nico (contacts) to sort this out, and the next morning I saw a pool of oil underneath the engine leaking too much on the driver's side of the engine which tells me that something is broken maybe oil seal or... and checked by driving it a bit I heard a that kind of noise and later showed engine oil level is bellow the minimum then I topped it up to reach my destination (workshop) where is still gonna be checked on the next Monday as I brought it too late already

Hi Guys got a similar problem had a hard run to Pieterburg travelling at hieghish speeds in my e70 Bmw X5 3.0d and next day when I started up I got a slight whine from turbo and loss of power could it be boost being lost or blown turbo? Where can I start looking. It won't boost higher than 1 bar on lower rpm car is sluggish and runs on the top and no smoke put the exhaust even after software.

Sticky vanes on the VNT could be the issue, but the car would eventually get in to boost higher into the rev range. The VNT is a mechanism that changes the angle of attack of the air hitting the exhaust wheel. So if it doesn't reach boost eventually I think it's probably the turbo that's shot.

Where and how can I check my VNT bud? Got similar problem but gets into boost higher up and slight whine.

Hie guys.I got the similar issue but my pipes all in check. There is no boost from my turbo and a faint whistle from it.is have zero smoke from the exhaust but no power or boost.I've no check engine light on.I've checked all vacuum pipes they seem fine.

First have the codes read before doing anything else. Could be something electronic like a MAF sensor.

Can also be an injector starting to fade, a whistle through high rev means turbo crap :fencelook:
