I drove from East London to Cape Town on a single tank of diesel in my 03 320d when I still had it. I drove at about 160kph most of the way as well.

Best I got was 1050 on a tank before chickening out. Not as good as you can get, but still better than petrol. But do keep in mind that the diesel needs to be services every 15000km where as the petrol intervals are 25000km.

You can do the math on what your predicted consumption would be compared to the shorter service intervals and see what you COO Cost of Ownership would be.

Hi guys,

Always wanted a BMW, going to test drive a 330d 2006, E90, 92000km, white tomorrow. Just need some help with some of the following concerns. Any assistance would be appreciated as I'm totally clueless:

1) Any historically problematic concerns in terms of engine, turbo, gearbox?

2) Consumption good or bad or reasonably priced?

3) Extend m/plan? If not, how expensive are the services on these things?

4) Anything else I should know abt these cars?

Also, wats a good price for this kind of vehicle?

Any guidance / information would be most welcomed!!

Thanks.

My first BMW was also a diesel,
2000 320d, got it with 68k on the clock and drove the shit out of it till 136k...
then I got my baby I'm driving now.
All I did was idle it for 3-5 minutes before, and 2-3 minutes after I drove it.
Best fuel consumption I got was a trip to Lichtenburg from Pretoria...
4.3l/100k, still got the paperwork(feulslips) to prove it.
I will go back to diesel anytime.
