Price is uppish but spec and mileage is great which can obviously be cross referenced against the BMW records. A car that is barely driven could also give issues in some areas.

Too expensive.

If you try and sell the car, you will be offered 100 to 120 for it, so why pay the premium...

Tell your dad to hold on a few months let the market get flooded with F30's, you will pick the car up for like 100k...

I've been tracking E90 330i's on Gumtree for over a year now. Got a really good deal last week and I'm the proud owner of one. I was determined to find one with sportspack though and those tend to go for R190k+ here in Cape Town and (a reasonably priced one) is very very rare. A non sportspack can range anywhere between R150k to R180k depending on condition, extras and kms etc. That car has really low kms, so low that it may not be a good thing. 38k for a 7 year old car means just over 5k per year. I'd have it tested out at a BMW specialist for peace of mind. R180k is quite steep considering it's a 2005 and the E90 prices are about to take a knock due to the release of the F30. I would suggest you wait and check Gumtree every day (as I did) until you find a really good deal. You are bound to get some nice bargains in the E90 range as owners upgrade to the F30.

The km reading is low for that year. But consider it is a 7 year old car, the price is rather steep.

Hmmm. An acquiantance bought an '05 330i with +-55000km on the clock for 140k a year ago...

That price is spot on mate. Maybe the other guys think its an e46. It's an e90 guys, and most e90's are in that price range.

With the mileage an extras, your dad better buy it NOW!!!!! It won't stay long. It's a deal of a lifetime.

Thats a good buy I rate.
Last year a friend of mine got a 320i 2007 with 26k on the clock for the same price.

Still a lot of car, but price is at this stage a bit steep - motorplan is about to run out, so doesn't really add much value other than hopefully all issues have been attended to. But, still time to get things sorted out, so not a bad thing too.

The mileage is very low!! Mine was low when I bought it, but that was now almost two years ago! Also an '05 model and at the time had 46k km on the clock - now in the low 60k km. In hind sight I paid way too much for my car for the age and overall spec level, but it's a solid car and been well looked after, so really cannot complain!

If I was in the market for a used E90, I would not be in too much of a hurry right now - there are going to be tons of great bargains popping up soon I reckon! Especially with the younger facelift models etc...

We know it's an E90, but R180k is a large premium for a 2005 without sportspack. Non sportspack 330i's are more common and all the extras such as iDrive typically don't increase the value of the car by much.
For R180k I'd be looking for at least a 2007 with sportspack as the '07 (see wiki) engine was upgraded to 200kw & is more fuel efficient. R180k for a 2005 is too much considering it'll probably be going for around R120k at the end of the year. I'm saying this because of the F30...
As I said earlier, low-km is typically a good feature but when it's THAT low, the car was probably standing in a garage for extended periods of time which has adverse effects on the exhaust etc.

I think this car is well priced given the extras and mileage.

It's highly unlikely that E90 prices will go through the floor. Yes, certain models will drop in price as a function of age and mileage, but don't expect bargain buys across the range. For example sport packs will still keep their resale, once again with normal depreciation applying to them.

Also 335is for example might also suffer due to the reliability issues and 320i for obvious reasons, but this does mean that the entire range is now reduced to bargain pricing, especially with pricing levels on the new model.

Also BMW dealer trade in was always crap - however some people are only discovering this now and "panic selling" their cars creating the perception that prices are falling behind trade, whereas this was always the case for the last few years and not unique to the E90.

I still think its a good buy , its an almost new car , motorplan left to fix up everything . For R 180 000 that's alot of car for that money with very nice options . I would take it if I was you .

Am I the only one here that thinks 180k is way too much for an '05?

I would do exactly the same as Navs. No point rushing if its not urgent. We picked up a 05 e90 330i exclusive auto with xenon, sunroof, auto windscreen wiper with 92 000km or so for R170 000 - . and that was 2 years ago !

It was from umhlali bmw, just that the m/plan is out now.

This is not a sportspack? I'm not saying that suddenly all 330i's are going to be worth R120k BUT there will be more bargains as some people will sell their E90 for a steal to get a quick sale so they can go buy the new F30.
I managed to get an E90 330i Sportspack for R150k. I was prepared to pay that because it was exactly what I wanted :inlove: and I felt that it was a really good price. All I'm saying is that if I had R180k and I wasn't sure of what I wanted I'd hold onto my money for a few months. That guy is likely to get R180k as it isn't an unreasonable price but Mr K asked for our thoughts & my recommendation is to wait. If his dad falls in love with the car, I doubt we'll be able to change his mind but maybe it'll put him in a position to negotiate the price by mentioning some of the points we raised.
