Hi, Im new to this forum, and to BMW.

I bought a 2004 318i M Sportpack Auto last week.

a few days ago i experienced a problem, where the EML light came on, and the car went into limp mode. I could barely move the car.

I found this to be the problem: when i drive the car during the day, no problem, however, when i drive the car at night, it seems to creep in. I use the car at night at first no problem. I stop off somewhere for a little bit, and when i switch the car on again, the EML light doesnt switch off.

Please help.

Hi there,

Your best bet here would be to get a diagnostic done, there could be a range of reasons for this error, whereas a computer readout will give you a better clue.

hi, thanks for the reply. I did put the car onto a bosch diagnostic machine and it came back with a 2A67 Valvetronic internal fault. I find this strange cos i can drive around all day no problems, however drive with the lights on for a few minutes and kablam, EML light on after i switch the car off and then on again.

Hi,

I hope your car is now fixed with that problem just want to know what parts you change to make fine. right now i got the same problem?
can you please help me

thanks

hey man,

yeah, my car is now fixed. it was found that the Valvetronic motor needed replacement.

before you go and change the valvetronic motor on your car, first get it diagnosed. if you do pick up a Valvetronic Internal Fault - 2A67 fault then get the part changed. it shoudlnt cost you more that R3500 including vat and labour.. with a genuine part and a professional mechanic.

also while youre at it, you should check the sensor that goes with the VVT motor. I think its called an eccentric shaft sensor.

I got my car repaired by Tunetech in Johannesburg. Where r u?
