howzit guys.. i just bought a 04 bmw 320d at an auction,i hear rumours that they quite problematic.i want to take it to my mechanic for a check,i want to fix everything at once before i even drive it.what areas should i ask my machanic to check? i want to enjoy the car and make sure i dn't become a statistic.

160000 kms on the clocks,it looks like a car that was well taken care of.but you never know,any advise will be appreciated.

And while you there consider removing the cat converters to pro long the life of the turbo.

I have recently purchased an 02 model. As far as I know, the 04's have a better quality turbo. First thing I did was remove the swirl flaps and install blanks which I purchased off ebay (plenty of diy available online).

Next on the list is Crank case breather valve and cat converters as L~C~G mentioned.

I think, as long as you dont drive the hell out of it it and take care of her, it will last you like any petrol vehicle...just my R0.02...
