Got the diff back from Budler Motorsport, along with a bag full of old parts.

Time to prepare the chassis for the diff install.

Yuck!

Getting there...

JSN just dropped off some parts.

I love working on a clean car, and the way you clean them is so lekker. I just want to touch the car.

I see a new firm shifter coming up and thermostat  Car is going to run strong and economical.

Couple more parts came in today.

Lots of parts to clean, yay!

Will tackle the shifter next, there is a lot of play in it on all 3 axis.

Textar Pads,, mm good stuff that, been hunting for the brand for ages and met them at Automechanika.. the rep Michelle was quite nice too!.

Thats a brilliant idea for the way to wash the undercarriage in a inside lift..

and when my neighbors see me spreading car parts all over the lawn they think I am crazy, nothing nicer than having a clean undercarriege

Good work Gizmo

Moving along...

Shifter out.

Replacing the shifter bush.

Refitted.

Refurbished diff going back in.

Refitted.

Rear brakes, Metelli crap removed. Notice how the PO/mechanic filed off some material off the inner and out parts of the face, no wonder the wear pattern on the discs looked so weird and would have cost 2 new discs if they were to continue to run like that. Also notice the lack of copper grease.

Textar pads copper greased and installed.

The hubs were quite rusted and the wheels were frozen onto them. I cleaned them up with the rotary wire brush and gave them a light coating of copper grease to prevent it happening in future.

PO/mechanic installed the front discs the wrong way round.

Pulled the discs, these hubs were also rusted and the wheels frozen to them, they got the same treatment as the rears, rotary wire brush followed by thin film of copper grease.

The front discs have been swapped around now but I cannot refit the calliper carriers until the new bolts arrive from Alberante BMW tomorrow morning.
More pics tomorrow.

Good work, coming along nicely! I am sure the new owner is just itching to get behind the wheel of this gem! Especially after this TLC!
