2002 320i e46 Auto Box problem

Hi Guys

I have a e46 320i Auto in MINT condition that i bought from a old man in Parklands, FSH with Forsdicks BMW, looks as neat as my 2008 E90 323i

My mom uses it and she complained that its in safe mode, went to have a look and indeed it was, took it to Zeemax and they said that it was an error 4 - meaning either Gearbox oil or that the box is busy going.

But there are no signs that i can notice of anything wrong with the box, car drives like a new one, gearbox changes when it must, even in steptronic mode it behaves.

How do i test if the box is going?

Any advice.

Take it to a autobox specialist.

Our E46 auto gave gearbox error... the dealer kept reflashing the software.. in the end they found the MAF was faulty & caused the gearbox error???

thats very strange, im convinced there is nothing wrong with the auto box, it drives perfectly and responds as it should. its been 2 weeks since the reset of the error and nothing as yet. lets hope it was a once off

Hi,

Just be careful I had my auto box rebuilt at Zeemax and now 6 months later
It's going back....
This is after them taking 4 months to find "the problem"

I have a 2001 320I
It's cost R18 000

Check that your battery is fine it could mess with the gearbox.
