That solid red is mooi!

Does BMW still offer any solid colours on new models, apart from white, as stock factory colours?

Any idea how this vehicle has fared 2yrs down the line?

Thank you, it really does stand out in a parking lot. Love her to bits.
SMG M3 paddles on auto 325i FTW! Love driving here on the paddles only. Also the bmw towbar install he did has helped me keep dirty stuff out of my clean interior.
Im very lucky having a good friend 2km away to help me out and fix things on my ride even when I don't have the money.

Paint looks better now as I spent sometime detailing her and she sleeps in a garage until weekends.

Great to hear from the owner himself, please post some moar pics!!

That vehicle really is a keeper of note that red in touring must be very rare, think that's the first one I've ever seen and it's really nice red.

How much is on the clock at this junction?

What kind of maintenance have you done on the auto box since you've got it, any niggles so far?

On around 220 000km now. Auto box still going fine. No issues so far.

Due to the high mileage I'm scared to service the box because it's working fine right now, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I've also heard that changing the oil on a high milage box can make it fail soon thereafter, why is that?

The clutch packs will start slipping with new oil as they are already worn AFAIK. Best is to rebuild when it fails, ZF will advise the same.

How does fresh oil make that happen, does the marginally higher friction from the contamination in old oil help stop clutch slippage?

Exactly as you say, to my knowledge the clutches have gotten used to the existing oil which helps it grip.
Heavy worn oil will also probably have some metal deposits in it from the box's wear. That it my understanding at least, but the guys at ZF would be best to answer. :coolShake:

Thread update:
My baby has strolled over 230 000km now and there are a bunch of wear/tear items that need attending to. I cannot afford oem parts so I bought from local parts stores, gaskets on the other hand I buy oem only. Gizmo is doing the work for me.
Parts being fitted:
Front control arms and bushes
Inner and outer tie rods and dust boots
Engine and gearbox mounts
Rear diff bush
Oil filter housing gasket (oem)
Header cat delete

For weeks now I have heard an exhaust leak but couldn't find it, gizmo suspected there was a crack behind the cat heatshield so he cut it away to inspect, sure enough a crack about 3inches long. Great time to decat the headers.

More cleaning before reinstall.

Oil leak point.

Subframe with new arms and engine mounts going in.

Engine sitting higher in engine bay now. :)

Tie rods done.

Remainder of the parts are currently being installed so I will update again soon.

I removed the no-name brand front control arm bushes and installed Meyle HD ones in their place.

I see this was done in 2015

How many miles were done since then on these Meyle HD ones?
And were they kaput now?
