I removed the no-name brand front control arm bushes and installed Meyle HD ones in their place.

I see this was done in 2015

How many miles were done since then on these Meyle HD ones?
And were they kaput now?
around 55 000km on them, not sure if buggered (will find out) but I know the control arm ball joints were kaput. The new arms came with new bushes.

More progress, oil filter housing gasket done! I think he is a little OCD :smilebounce:

Gizmo has sent my vanos line in for refurbishment at Rudman hydraulics and will have it back tomorrow. More progress then.

I replaced the lower control arm bushes on my E46 330i recently as well ...
I learned a few new words in the process of removing the old ones :roflol:

Stunning Touting BTW!

Small update: Vanos line refurbished with stainless steel braided hose.

Gizmo took the car to TWT for alignment yesterday and dropped her off by my place while I was at work, he said I must put some miles on the car over the weekend as he wants to make sure all the oil leaks are fixed before he cleans/refits all the underpanels. He will tackle the diff bush on Monday also.

I got to drive a little last night, I cannot believe how much this car has changed in a week. It drives like a BMW again, steering is precise, throttle input sharper, no funny noises, no weird vibrations (excluding diff bush obviously). This car is feeling better than when I first bought it!
Gizmo, you are a legend!:ty::ty::ty::ty::ty:

Wow what good work for such an old car. I love when I see these diy type of work done by fanatics for the love of the brand.

Update: I put some miles on her over the weekend and have fallen in love all over again, when it was time to return the car to have the diff bush done I was reluctant to do so as the car has never driven this nice in my ownership. Anyway, onto the pics.

Original diff bush from 2001

Dirty bastard!

Proper fuct

Unfortunately the diff bush I supplied was 1.2mm bigger diameter than the original and wasn't going to work, at that point gizmo insisted I fit an original part and he picked one up from auto glen for me.

Dirty splash covers

Much better!

Picking her up later today, all vibrations are gone apparently. I cant wait to drive her again, once again thank you gizmo for all the hard work you have put into my car, I really really appreciate it!

I think I need to go for a long drive this weekend to stonehaven or harties and enjoy the car on the open road for the first time since buying it.

Last update for the time being:
I asked gizmo if there was any way we could raise the suspension a little as I feel the car is too low for my comfort, he pulled out some nearly new 330i exclusive front shocks/springs from his store room and compared them to my tired old shocks/springs, they worked out perfect and raised the nose by 20-30mm.

There is an oil leak on my gearbox which still needs attention but I cannot have it sorted now so gizmo topped off the ZF box with ATF and reset the adaptations, we will sort it out next month, im tapped out for now.

Nothing serious on diagnostics, just common e46 faults.

With the suspension settled Im very happy the extra ground clearance in the front, I can get in and out my driveway with ease now.

Couple quick pix at auto glen, love how the red pops in the workshop.

Ag not another damn Gizmo thread that is turned into an issue.
I will simply close threads where this sort of crap pops up.

For the interest of members, Gizmo has been in conversation with me over the past week and in particular (this afternoon). I have been reviewing his various posting/PM permissions and while all this is happening another Gizmo thread gets resurrected. No more.
