Moving along, got new gearbox and diff oils.

Marking wheels as they have non-directional tyres.

Wheels off to reveal 10mm and 12mm Burger Motorsport spacers.

Rear pads are those garbage Bosch things, they won't be going back on the car.

Dropping the exhaust system.

Diff is sitting a few mm forward.

The top 2 bolts are supposed to line up with the centre of those black covers so you can get a socket onto them. The car will need a new rear axle carrier, just got a quote from BMW of R21k for a new rear axle carrier!

Propshaft about to be removed.

Propshaft out.

Showing it's age.

Rear suspension out.

Keep dust off the stub axles. Checkers bags FTW!

Dirty diff!

Divorced for good, a brand new one from Turner Motorsport will be sourced.

Notice the rear mount has been forced forward.

E36 on the left, Z3M on the right.

I only needed a small divet from the centre punch for the drill bit to go into, no need to break out the FORD tool (4lbs hammer) as the drill bit must make the hole, not the punch!

Dont make us cheap.
We sommer use a wheel spanner as a hammer:crazylaugh:

Does the Z have foam inside the beam?

Because I know some of the late e30s had foam inside to try and combat diff/road noise

Haha on the wheel spanner, I knew you would comment on my last post.

The E30 axle carrier is filled with 11kg of tiny lead balls (looks like bird shot) and then all the orifices are capped with rubber sealant.

It is not often that one sees so many precision tools in use at once.

Now that the correct bushes are in I can temporarily install the axle carrier and see the difference it makes, right off the bat it slides onto the threaded pins with ease, no more binding! The bolt holes for the diff also now sit in the centre of the bolt inspection covers, success and a saving of R19500!

With the major hurdle out the way, progress should come swiftly! Watch this space!
