Just after buying the cars, the decision process ended up being a late night planning session at Bruce's workshop.
Braai, Whiskey and good company.
Our rating/decision criteria were on parts/budget/reliability/performance/feel and look for the suspension and tyres.

We ended up blowing the budget, eating all the food and enjoying all the whiskey.
The parts list were the pics posted previously.
EBC USR Series slotted discs
EDC yellow stuff pads
Bilstein Upside Down Shocks
Teflon brake hoses
Powerflex Polyurethane Bushes
New control arms (threw them in just in case)
Paint/powder coat everything to look like new

We held off on ordering lowering springs, actually wasn't quite sure I wanted the car lowered.
I have since ordered a set of Eibach Pro Springs, they have the least aggressive drop (25mm front and 15mm rear)
Picked them for three reasons
Better handling (although I don't go thrashing her in corners often)
To close the slight gap between tyres and fenders. Final look and stance of her should be perfect.
Ride shouldn't harshen up to much as opposed to a 40mm kit

Ok on to the good stuff.... PICTURES.

Look mom. No wheels.
Just a pic of some prep and parts placed and ready.

Bruce took the opportunity to clean up and polish the calipers, he added his own special touch with a splash of red.

Time for Discs....
Copper slip them on nicely

Aaaand voila.... It looked so good on and all together. Almost didn't want to put a rim on [SEE-NO-EVIL MONKEY]

We also cleaned the entire under carriage and fender wells. Basically it would have been as if the car had come of the production line with not a hint of dirt underneath her. (Well as close as Bruce could get)
Bruce pointing out just how neat and clean she is

Now I have a tendency to like things neat.... Bruce on the other hand likes polishing Stainless Steel exhausts
Car manufacturers generally spray or coat them. Bruce believes clean polished allows them to dissipate heat better. (I say believes he says he knows, he has been building race cars for ages, also the only South African to work on a Toyota F1 car)
Will post pics of a polished exhaust soon. (You can imagine how long it takes to remove and polish every bit of Stainless)

Back to pictures
Felt like a peeping tom taking this photo lol.

All done, my new suspension and brakes. Or as we have come to say... Bruce'd new

Thanks for the compliments above on the thread.
True compliments and props need to go to the Bruce doing 90% of the work. For my 10%, I am great at passing him tools every so often.

I can't seem to find the pics of when we polished the M3 exhaust and cleaned up the undercarriage. Hopefully they somewhere on my Notebook

I know I didn't want to post about the M5 here, but just got these pics from Bruce. He has started cleaning up the M5 to his standard, thought I'd share for you guys to hopefully enjoy looking at it as much as I did.

Apologies for the pic quality, think Bruce still has one of the first iPhone produced (lol)

what compound did you use for polishing?

Hi Moranor

Think it was, 1000 then 2000 sandpaper and some car polish Grade Meguires. That's from memory, am going past to lend a hand tomorrow night and will ask for sure.

It's 22:26pm and my work day has finally ended, by the looks of things, so has Bruce's.
Last whatsapp I got from him containing pictures of the M5 was at 9:35. He also snuck in a little surprise set of photos for me.
From then on the boys group started talking kak lol

I did say in a previous post (earlier today) that the underside of the M5 would be sparkling....
The proof is in the pictures Bruce sent me tonight

Now the Surprise for me was that he found a new polish better than Meguires and apparently 4 to 5 times more expensive. Some 5 step process polish and seal. He had been doing on the sly for the past 2 days

Below are the photos he sent, he promises no photoshop, no touch up app etc

9abu5uqy.jpg

He says it look unbelievable in the flesh, to me, from the photos it almost looks like Avus Blue mirror finish.
He says it's removed almost all the slight scratches a car gets from day to day use, taken out the swirl look paint gets from washing with dust on and not properly rinsing off the dust before most places or people wash a car. He say it's sooooo smooth that it's almost orgasmic.
I can't wait to go past tomorrow.

DAMN. Think I'm going to have to edit my topic and include the M5 in this thread. (Makes life easier)

Second surprise was my friends M Coupe.
He had it totally resprayed, spray job was decent but wasn't finished well, also they didn't align all the panels as well as he would have liked.
After seeing my cousins car thread he asked if Bruce would help him get the car to 110% both mechanically and cosmetically. A month later he dropped his car off, Bruce is half way through with his car (estimated 100 hours work will go into it. The usual Bruce full car makeover), but Bruce couldn't resist polishing it at the same time as the M5

Again I apologies for the photos, they taken by Bruce's iPhone version 0.1.
But you can still see the quality of the polish job
