Due to a neck injury I was forced to get rid of my R1 with only 1900 km on the clock some time back.

Well, I'm back on another Big Bang and bought a little brother just in case my neck is playing up again. Must say the little Honda is a very nice ride.

This coming weekend will be my 1st longish trip, me and my son, (480 km) since my opp. Did a 130 km trip the other day and all went well. This is also my laaities 1st long trip and he can't wait.

1st pic when taking delivery in Boksburg, 2nd one on our way for a short trip.

Very nice, I've always been a big fan of the CBR600F, a shame they didn't sell in huge numbers, which was surprising to me as Honda had them on sale for just over R60K back in 2013 I think it was.

Congrats and many happy and safe miles to you and your son.

@ GOCART, it's a very smooth and easy to ride motorcycle. Think it's the best 1st big bike for anyone to hop on. The way it's making power is very easy to control compared to the R1. The R1 in my eyes, even in mode B, the throttle is just to aggressive the 1st 30% of movement. And the very tall 1st gear does not help

Wishing you many safe Kms!

Personally love the sound of the 'big bang' aaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh wuuuuun.

But I prefer the handling and features of the S1000RR.

Can't argue with that, the little 600F will be very kind to a new rider with its progressive power delivery and comfortable seating position.

Post some nice pics of your road trip and some insight from you son's view after his first long ride.

Me and my Laaitie done a road trip on Sunday of 557 km from Fort Beaufort to Despatch and back. Start off with some heavy fog but that was only for the 1st 15 km.

Was a great ride and a we enjoyed a nice braai before returning home.
Left Despatch early but a head on collision about 20 km before Cookhouse left us waiting at the side of the road for more than 90 min.

Last part of the trip was in the dark. As a norm I do not enjoy night riding as these bikes just do not have decent lights.

Both bikes return good consumption. 18km/l on the R1 and just a bit better on the CBR. Need to mention that this was all done at legal speed as this was my sons 1st long trip and needless to say a bit of stress on my side.

The riding position on the CBR F is much better than the R1, also the seat on the CBR is like a lazyboy comparred to the R1 seat.

Fabulous :bravo: 557km in one day, that's a decent ride, especially on a R1.

Glad you guys are safe, no doubt had loads of fun.

@ Gocart, and remeber I'm an Old man

Impressive indeed. However, do not fear good sir, the "crotch rocket" will keep you feeling young and rejuvenated.

Nicely done,

I hope to be doing those type of trips soon as I decide on a bike.

The R1 still seats strong in my heart and soul.... lets look at it again.

One more time :blowheart:

Reminds me of my old trips to E.T - Mpumalanga.

My mates and I would leave Benoni Engen at about 08H30 - after traffic had calmed - and we would be in Sabie/graskop by about 14h00.

Would still hit a few of our favorite passes a few times before eventually having the first beer of the day at around 17h00.

Rupert in Sabie would change tyres for us regularly there. Still have pics somewhere.

The great thing about any R1 later than 2014 is the traction and anti wheely control. Just for that trip you get into bad weather.

The hot seat!
