It seems the car is highly underated by BMW.

So the car makes a whopping 331whp vs 270whp average normal N54's make in the states.[/b]

Was gonna order a 1M for the wife but allocation for next year has not been confirmed so BMW does'nt know if they gonna get any except for the 60 this year. Well picking up a z4 35is on saturday, same engine but with DCT and quoted 0-100km/h figure 0.1sec faster than 1M. Will be a straight line performer but no handler like the 1M...

wonder what it will dyno here at altitude?

64 in total bud only getting 40 or so this year one of them being MINE! Guess that 1M is actually a M and not just a 135i after all........ Like always it gets better and im impressed with the difference in power so thats great news thanks George.

wouldnt this be down to the fact that they are boosting the 1m harder from the factory?

Probably but what BMW quoted on the flywheel its making on the wheels. Everyone deep inside is praying there might be other changes but I suspect its just boost. The figure is excellent though for guys that are going to keep the car stock so in theory they got more than was bargained for.

Ok so the exit speed on the quartermile is 174.4 which is basically in line with a 1 bar boosted 135 at the reef. As a comparison the Xcede car which ran at Tarlton on Sunday exited at 175 with chip, dp and intakes albiet with Mickey Thompsons.
So the performance is much of a muchness considering this was done at the coast with a car that has LSD.
The conclusion is the high dyno numbers where achieved because of the overboost function and it seems the 1M has basically a run of the mill N54 with a performance pack fitted.

I read a couple of specs on 1Addicts as well, and they mentioned there that the flywheel is 3kg lighter than the unit used in the 135i.

This, and a combination of more "responsive" mapping and the M-dynamic mode is what probably makes it feel different to drive too.

Let's wait for RB Turbos to work some magic for the 1M :)

I agree. Stock for Stock, the 1M seems as if it has a more agressive mapping than the N54 but judging from the track results, a 135i with mild software could do the same thing. Not sure if reliability becomes an issue though :mmm:
