:crazylaugh:
Jis, you guys are a bunch of succers, who said the car makes 900bhp, and who said it has upgraded turbos......
Lets touch on the collectability issue again.
I have done quite a lot of research. IF a collectable car is modified in some way, and the upgrades were done by a well known reputable firm, it can actually add to the value.
Simple example, take an old e34 535i, versus the same car but with an Alpina conversion!!
A Porsche 964 Turbo, versus one with a RUFF conversion.
An old Porsche 911 SC turned into a Singer conversion, where only the conversion is worth more than the car and makes it very sought after.
Yes, some collectors are hardcore purists who would only require stock standard
Collectors items, but then you also get collectors who prefer the painstakingly upgraded items, on condition that all stock components are available and can be refitted without a trace of ever having been upgraded.
I think that the owner is the one to judge the car at a specific point in time, to allow or to not allow certain mods to make the car a better handling, braking, turning and accelerating car.
Why do you buy a collectors car, just to look at it, or to drive it properly, and if one fiddles with the turbos, or mapping or suspension to make an Audi S3 look shy and petite, why not??? Whether it is a BMW Sportpack suspension and, exhaust and power upgrade, or a top dollar alternative high spec and quality component upgrade, what's the difference??
Will anyone of you dare to say that a BMW shock system beats a top 3-way adjustable coilover KW set, and that the BMW shocks will ouperform the KW's??
I am of the opinion that a collectable car can be enhanced if done discretely and if done after proper thought, research and preparation, without losing value.
My GT3 RS has Vari Racing steel discs in place of PCCB's, which perform as well at a fraction of the cost, a meticulously designed high flow exhaust system at a 1/10 of the cost of Akrapovic, and an ECU upgrade. All stock parts packed away safely. Do the upgrades affect the value, surely not!!!
Just some thought for you guys, lets talk about it, seems that this can become very interesting
