The car came in for full suspension refresh as it's beyond driveable over 130km/h (shaking) and new clutch/flywheel as it's on it's way out and shifting gears is becoming a problem. Unfortunately, the gearbox has a massive oil leak and has been running with almost no oil in it so it is most definitely toast now so I suggested the 6spd idea seeing as we replacing clutch/flywheel anyway.Wes said:Gizmo said:The car sometimes battles to start, you can hear as it's turning over that it isn't making compression. Compression test results don't lie, either way the motor would need to be stripped down to determine the exact cause of the multiple low cylinders. Collapsed rings would be my guess, maybe blown head gasket between cyl 1 and cyl 2.
Maybe toast is the wrong word but it will need rebuilding regardless.
What did the car come to you for originally?
Is the transplant a solution to a problem the car had or is it something the owner wanted to do from the start?
The 2.8 transplant is something Tumi liked from the get go, the compression numbers of the 2.5 was all the incentive we needed to convert to 2.8i
