1996 BMW E38 740i - To buy or not to buy

Does look like a pretty neat E38... Those are becoming rarer

Just noticed There is a 2004 730d on auction tomorrow. Going to check that out first :skit:

realistically its mine for R45k.

looks neat and is well mainatained


Thoughts ??

1) No central TV/Computor like mine has...earlier model
2) Aftermarket radio antenae fitted to left rear fender, probably the internal antenae in the rear window has given up the ghost
3) They say telephone never been used...wonder if it will still work, 20 years later

Although that will be the slowest e38 740, it will be the most reliable. The one you posted would be my pick of the bunch because it still uses the early M60b40 engine.

Then again - I could almost forgive this one its sins (M62tub44) purely because of the spec level

HAHA, we have the same eye for cars, that has been on for over 6 months though, and dealer wont negotiate on price.

Its a 95.

........Its not supposed to have a TV and these early ones did come with an antenna on the left rear fender

I also saw this one a few weeks back. If I'd go for an E38, that's the kinda spec I'd go for. Just don't know what the mileage is on this one

I would seriously buy this if I were you. These 740i's are the reason why I own bmw's today. My dad use to buy the 7 series.

The prefacelift is really bad with air suspension and the electronics.

77k without VAT I just slapped on R10k as a guest to what the Vat was
