I literally went out of my way to help out a Fanatic (Arbee) get his new wheels today. After seeing a few gumtree disaster E36's with Yaseen two Sundays ago, he finally came across a fairly decent one in his price range on auto trader, unfortunately I wasn't able to accompany him on the first viewing but he was rather happy to find what he was looking for and did the necessary Coisman ENATIS checks and haggled the seller down into his price bracket. Arbee and myself kept in touch via whatsapp regarding the details and sale and he confirmed the money is ready to EFT this morning. Unfortunately Arbee was tied up at work with meetings today and couldn't collect the car himself, I offered to go do a final inspection on the vehicle and collect it for him if all looked good.

The seller Mr Hendrik Visser is a SAA pilot and had a very narrow window between 12 and 13:30 today where the vehicle could be viewed/collected and seeing as Arbee's Mini Cooper is still in the shop he was desperate to get the E36 today. I grabbed my diagnostics laptop and torch and drove through to Arbee's workplace in Rosebank and left the X3 there, Arbee between meetings quickly rushed me through to Rosebank Gautrain Station in his Citroen C1 loan vehicle (slowest thing ever) and I hopped onto the Gautrain destined for Hatfield station where Hendrik would collect me and take me to his house where I could give the car a good scrutinisation. It was my first time doing that route and am thoroughly impressed at the pace that train got to its destination. After viewing the car and confirming with Arbee it was a good purchase he EFT'ed the money through to Hendrik who then phoned his bank to confirm payment. All business sorted and out the way Hendrik and his wife invited me in for lunch, lekker home-cooked spaghetti bolognese with grated cheese and home-made chilli, so nice I had a second helping! After lunch, Hendrik's wife made me coffee and after that I made my way back to Rosebank in the 323i. Never have I experienced hospitality like that before! Thank you Mr and Mrs Visser!
I delivered Arbee's new ride to him just after 2pm and made my way home. The 323i will make its way to me on Sunday for some TLC, lots more pics then.

Under-rated transport!

Destination reached.

323i about to depart the Visser's.

Lots more pics and details coming next week, 'till then, happy travels Mr Arbee36!

Thank you Warren!!! Great success.

Your efforts to assist are appreciated big time.

Thanks for the kind words. The 323i has already been summoned to its daily tasks. I must say for a car this old, with 360k km it drives very smooth.

It's been a great day today, just after you left I got a call from the mechanic were the Mini was to say it's ready so I headed there and fetched it. From zero cars back to 2. The slow loan is gone now too.

Well done Gizmo. Nothing like having the peace of mind knowing the car you want to buy has been given the once over by someone in the know.

Arbee, congrats bud. My wife had a 97 323i auto as a daily drive for 8 years. She was never left stranded by the road side, not even a flat tyre. Very soild, dependable cars.

Im not planning to do much cosmetic changes on the car, a set of wheels yes but thats probably going to be it. Other than wheels, it will remain as it looks, obviously there maybe some cleaning/painting of some parts.

So, im not going to create a new thread for the car. Here are some pics i took this morning!

Gizmo will update with the mechanical changes as and when they occur!

That interior still looks very neat for 360 000km.

I would say change the radio back to stock, those after market things look horrible.
