Sounds good  I've always liked the 1M look, I see one parked on my way to College everyday haha

If you cant buy one, then why not make the car look like one, go with what you like, always end up with better results than going with what others like.

It would be an Awesome Project, I remember seeing something like this posted on this forum from another a while back I think.

If its Original Parts then I don't think it will decrease the value, only if you get those fake stuff haha

Just my 2cents
Good Luck

Whatever you decide to do, body, engine, handling... enjoy upgrading your car and driving it. I look forward to seeing some project updates and the final result :) Please share lots of pictures.

Owning most vehicles for a period of time means that depreciation comes into play. Put this against the experience of building something you wanted and have had the pleasure of driving.

If you change your car to a 1M you wont have the satisfaction of the 1M guy being pissed at u if you win

no, I think they normally think "ha, I could do that if I wanted, AND it would be a real 1M"

Sleeper, I was thinking of doing the front of my car like a 1M while they were rebuilding her. I had to replace 1 fender, bonnet and bumper. The 1M bumper was cheaper than the 130i or 135i bumper.

I didnt go ahead with doing it cos I would have to modify the rear side panels to make the arches and rear bumper wider. It would have added a big amount onto my repair bill.

I was thinking of doing this: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=584662

Go read my thread: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=24477

Here's a V8 transplant:

All that money and effort, and you will still have a rep, not a real factory built 1M...

You can mod it faster, but you don't have to make it look like a 1M....

HI Sleeper

Is prior design still making these kits available? when I last enquired they said that they had removed it from their site, I am not sure why exactly.
just interested to know...

Yes they still making it. I spoke to them like 4 months ago. But i don't think the BMW motor plan will still stand.

Your handle is ""Sleeper""?
And you want a 135 to look like a 1M?

Just had to point that out.... :)

But it is a serious build, hope it goes well, wish you all the best.

I dont think it will be long until we see more 1M replicas, its just the way it goes.
Guys make diesels look like 335's, guys make coupe's look like M3's.
And the older the car gets the easier it become to upgrade the look.
Look at how many E36's are ""M3 Spec""

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Decided against the 1M bodykit in the end. I might end up doing it if I decide to keep the car after motorplan expires, but I would rather spend the money modding a GTR or similar.

Still modifying the 135, slowly.

@Tecnician, yeah, I know, the exact opposite. :bangdesk: :lmoa:

I like your idea sleeper..my brother has a Valencia Orange 1M,sweet lord that car is a dream...so i've been toying with the idea of getting a used 135i DCT Convertible with Sat Nav Pro and ugrade it to 1M look in Convertible form..and the slap it with a Matte Valencia Orange Vinyl Wrap..in my head it would be a cool mod and id be the only one in SA probably the world to have such a kind of car nothing is impossible if the budget is right..stuff what what critics say,the 1M is essentially a 135i with a different DME,widebodykit,Diff from e46,Mirrors from E92 and suspension from E46 so there is nothing unique about it..but the sum of all those parts make it one hell of a car so replicating one is not such a bad thing after all.

Very interesting thread.

I'd say save the money and get the 1M. The amount u end up spending on changing the 135i to 1m look.might aswell ad abit and get the 1m

Plus ur n54 mds can go straight on the 1m

I would spend extra and get the 1M. You will at least not loose the body work and wheels money.
Otherwise buy all the 1M body parts and get the Prior fender extensions for the rear only or get a good shop to make them.
Also with Prior did you get Germany to quote you or the yanks? Germany is much cheaper.

BMW dealers probably will request 1M chassis no for the 1M specific items that you will need.....

Why waste money on the 1M setup?

Rather drop in a M3 V8 and box, with the 1M suspension and diff. with the 1M widebody kit into your car.

Will be a totally different animal to what you think is the ideal?

It has been done successfully, check around on the forum.

Now that sounds like a plan! :skit:
