I have not really any major issues with my N54, I think the most costly repair was the Waterpump 2 days after I got the car.

Its non stock and gets driven hard, buy myself and the previous owner.

carbon build up usually on direct injection engines..hampers performance etc. so they literally clean out all the carbon build up google pics

it needs to be done physically. Some guys do themselves but i would use a specialist to do it.

issue with direct injection motors...fuel is injected into the combustion chambers so it bypasses the intake and intake valves etc...so theres no cleaning agent and over time carbon builds up in those areas...causes all kinds of crap as IndivJ mentioned.

you will need to see a specialist to do some walnut blasting or if you brave enough DIY

apart from the water pump failure, just tyres and fuel, thats about it..mostly tyresraise:

maybe if you're N55 but N54 has a few documented issues
