135i Coolant leak

Got a coolant low message yesterday. Upon inspection the coolant reservoir seems to be leaking and there is greenish splashes all over the side of the engine.

Spoke to the dealer and added some distilled water.

Booked in on Tuesday, any cause for concern? Car is on 70k km.

Thanks

most probably your coolant reservoir got crack and leaking out coolant.
Best would be to top it up very regularly... you don't want your car to overheat.

Get it sorted asap bud.

On my 335i I had my coolant tank and water pump replaced at around 60k (a week after a scheduled service - strange) and the radiator at 65k. As the other people mentioned, it seems the cooling systems on these engines are the weak point.

Have had all the above replaced except the coolant reservoir which will be replaced this week.

Car is happy again!

Expansion tank replaced, no other leaks found.

Had alignment done as well. A cool 3.5k billed to MP :fencelook:

Now for the water pump

I noticed water dripping on my garage floor as I was reversing :thumbdo:

Left it to stand and noticed a very slow drip underneath the engine (passenger side) cant see exactly where though.

I checked the coolant level and it was way over the max level. Removed coolant until max level.

Is this a sign that the water pump is on its way? Could it be due to coolant overfill?

Stupid question....but isn't it your air con maybe? :tease:

Just keep an close eye on your coolant level...if it is dropping then you know for sure there is still a leak somewhere.

How can I put this: check if you can see any water pipes where the coolant has dried up, if it makes any sense. Then you know the coolant must be leaking somewhere in that area. Sometimes in drips or runs down from other places...but its best to jack it up/or get in on a lift....remove splash tray...and check from underneath as well as from the top.

Hope you get it sorted bud.

Doubt its the aircon. I left a small container underneath overnight and it leaked about 30-50ml.

The leak is on the opposite side of the coolant reservoir.

Its definitely water not blue.

Just an update, it turned out to be a leaking windscreen washer liquid :biglol: One of the pipes connecting to the headlamp washers.

Will book it in soon :bangdesk:
