Hey Guys,

I'm assuming u talking about software tuning via the OBD port. Wouls they be able to piuck up the plug and play options as well?
The Vishnu Procede v5 is a plug and play and has the function to clear all DME codes but perhaps they can detect a tune. I am sure BMW has fancy software. Ill have to rethink the tune and maybe hang on until the motor plan has expired. I have contacts at BMW and will enquire which way to go.
Cheers.

Just a warning.

My buddy who does the IT for all BMW dealers, ( he works at the plant and Midrand )

Lets not get into those debates again...your comment should be moved or deleted to a sub-forum where those issues were discussed. This thread is someone asking for tuning options.

I have heard them all...my father owns the plant in germany and my sister is the principle dealer in Kimberley and my uncles...uncle does the programmimg for bmw etc...the next one will be...?

Contact the various sponsors on this forum for tuning options and the technical details about their tunes. I am sure they would be able to advise you appropriately.

Pls read my previous post, if you do it the right way piggies are safe, including the Procede and JB4. As suggested above, first find out from those in the know rather than just asking your contacts at BMW, they will definitely spin you the worst case senario as its in BM's best interests. My 2 cents...

With respect to Twinz, I'm always happy to find out new information that may affect my motorplan. To some of us tuning is a calculated risk. Sure you have to be wearing your BS filter with a lot of these posts, but I would still rather hear it than not, so I can make my own mind up. The stuff I dont care much about, I discard or dont read.

I dont think its a good idea to discourage people expressing their views or posting new information no matter how unimportant people may think it is. What is important to one person may be pointless to another. I am all for offering what I feel is good advice ... take it, don't take it, I don't care, but let me post.

Just my views and I hope I don't offend anyone with this post or put anyone to sleep with my waffling

Of late, i have heard a few guys complain about the Porcede unit. I am considering bringing in a JB unit as theres been less complaints.

Twinz,

I seen the JB3 unit available on the juiceduptuning.com website for around $200. is there a JB3 unit foir the N55?

I had a JB4 system in my 2009 135I and the only issue was misfires. The car would pull strong when nailed but if you had been driving in traffic and then put foot it would take a bit of time to clear again. I ran map 2 and 7 most of the time.
cheers.

Twinz,

That's why i did say it was just my 2c.

This is a Discussion Forum after all. ;)

Sure, no one is stifling discussion or debate or conversation but there are quite a few threads about the issue that you have raised, surely it would be more appropriate there? This thread is about something different. I am sure the sponsors would be very keen to assist the members concerned with their request for chiptuning. Am I missing something?

But what we not going to tolerate is a witch-hunt about modifying or tuning cars. There are enough information and threads for members to check out with regards MP/Waranty...these have even been sticky'd for convenience.

Here is an example:

Motorplan cancelled

Talk about being over dramatic.

A witch-hunt..?? Really?

Take a read at what I wrote again.

I think the point his trying to put across is that a lot of scepticism in this matter is being caused by hear say. The hear say gets past on and soon people are going to be saying that your GPS sends signals to dealers :roflol:

Truth of the matter is that BMW has taken great steps to stop tuning. There are steps around this always, sometimes delayed in cases of tuners who would rather take the money and release cars without knowing the repercussions of their actions. These are the cars we hear about.

Thx GS. You articulated my concern much better without having to take sides...much appreciated.

On a different note, have you decided about the M5...the reviews on this car is just amazing? I got an order price of R1,1m without extras...the car comes pretty much with everything. But the black car comes with blue brake calipers...how funny is that

A bit off topic, but if this is the case, wouldn't it make more sense to go for something like a GTR, wouldn't you be getting a better, more rounded and more involved driving experience?

The thread went off topic early on, i was just doing it properly. :=):

The GTRs price the same. I did not enjoy the drive. Was reminded too much of my skyline "overdrive" days.

aah ok, personally I would rather go for the GTR, because it is a bit more hardcore

talk about a hard decision (well for me anyway). I have no idea which one I would choose! Nice position to be in though. R1.1mill !! no wonder you are not too worried about motorplan Twinz

Some of us can only dream!

I don't think you can go wrong with either car

I am in agreement with you and seether, the godzilla is seriously hard core and makes its intention clear by its looks as well. I was taken on the rooi els bends last year by a friend and was thoroughly motion sick after the run but the GTR was begging for more...it goes relentlessly

Haven't decided yet but have sold my E60 M5 to make space. I think I am going to wait to drive it though. Visually its not ticking all the spaces so its quite a financial commitment to buy something that's so expensive that you don't say wow when you see it. Going to take some time on this one.
