Hey Guys!

I'm new to the forum. Used to have a 2001 Audi A3 1.8T and have now moved onto greater things such as my 2006 130i M.

Anyway, The car is great has around 104000KM on clock and is amazing!
I wasn't sure about this car at first at fact that it's NA and so on. Adding to that what I've read on the forum in some posts comparing the 130 to the "Hatchbacks" with SW DP etc etc... HOWEVER!!!

When I saw THIS!

It blew my MIND! This is a local vid as you will notice in the dialogue, and judging by the scenery could be at the coast, however not sure.

Now for some of the nitty gritty... This is my first BM. SO the general control of the car's heads-up display and the works is a lot different to my Audi's... Forgive me for sounding like a tit, but here it goes.

For starters, WHY is there no Temp gauge? and how do I check the oil level??:flyfun:

Then, my car seems to have a mind of its own by idling a little higher all on its own and coming back down to its normal 800-900. It idles up to about 1000... Also when I push in the clutch, the same thing happens.
Is this normal? if not, what could be the issue?? Air flow sensor??

I checked the service book, and according to the book, last service was done at 87000kms, its on 104***km now, when I went through the service checks the next oil change is in 10000ks. I know with my Audi I had to change the oil every 15000k's... So i'm just a tad confused as to how many k's she can run with a fresh oil change...

That pretty much wraps it up. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for? Electronics etc... Also I wanna put a sub in the boot. (i'm in my early twenties - Don't judge me!):tease:

Ideally I want to extend the motor plan, any ideas on how much this will cost??

Sweet!

i went and put in sound .. but it gives me a headache ... haha ... overdid it .. and it is mostly off coz i jus love the exhaustnote of the car ..

I wish you very happy miles and safe miles ...

Congrats on upgrading to a BM

There is only an OIL TEMP gauge.

The idling is normal.

I've put a 12" sub in my boot.

Are you in Cape Town or up country?

Yea, at our age you need the extra "Doef-Doef", especially if you maried and you not in the mood for the wife's voice in your ears, then you just turn up the volume.

I love my bass..... The factory fitted LOGIC 7 wasn't enough bass for me.

Whenever my dad is in the car I have to turn the bass down to the lowest in the minuses. He hates it. He says I musn't be like a taxi :roflol:

I have the hi-fi speaker system in my car, so my head unit the bass is turned to -2, because the bass comes from the sub, a 1400w Pioneer 12" DVC competition series sub, and a 1400w monoblock Audiobank amp, with separate volume/power control for the amp.
I have excellent clarity, but with awesome base. :thumb: So anything, from clasical to techno, rock to boeremusiek sounds great in my car.

I have two Rockford P2's (10") Ill have to get a custom box as my current one is too big :yuck:

Im in Joburg, west rand to be precise...

The car is great... When I first got it I wanted to sell it again as I didnt think it was for me... BUT now its growing on me. That engine sound blows my sox off! :inlove:

Hey bud, congrats! That is my buddies BMW!
What did he do to that thing?? He obviously took the 130i Badge off and replaced it with the infamous M... Has he done anything to the motor?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I would be keen to do some "breakfast runs" here in Joburg. Or just hang out with some guys from the club. Is there such a thing up here in joburg??

I'm always keen on networking...

There is a club in JHB, called BMW Car Club Gauteng, look on www.bmwcarclub.co.za or in the Gauteng section in the Regional Forum

Pleasure dude.

This is my 2nd 130i.
The 1st one was written off cos an assh*le jumped a red robot. Had the car for 20 months.
The 2nd one I've had for 4 years. This one was in an accident, it was off the roads for 16 months cos it happened on the track. Was fighting the insurance for a year. Go read my thread "Carbon is finally getting repaired".

I've had both since brand new

Dam Man... That sucks! My cars tail came out epically on wednesday. took a corner at like eighty with DTC off, Had a jeremy Clarkson moment. The DTC must have come off when I accidentally pushed it instead of the "Lock Doors button"... Luckily I know my way around this stuff, regained control and had a whoosa moment...:praise:

And today, the same thing happened, just I was driving normally and the tail just wants to go at an intersection turning right. I have no idea why... Is the car too light in the back? I was hoping with the 50/50 balance ratio it would keep it in check...

Hey dude, you have to use the obc to check the oil. No dipstick. BMW oil changes are around 25000kms which is actually CBS (condition based servicing) I.e based on your driving pattern. The shittier you drive, the quicker you get to your next service. You can only use full synthetic oil as other conventional oils don't last more than 10000kms at most.

By the way, lekka ride.
