120d Vibration under load

I have a 2005 120d Auto (E87) I bought it with just over 100k on the clock and it's now sitting on 105k. When I took it on the highway the first time I noticed a slight vibration. It's not tires or wheel bearings and it seems to mainly be round the 2000rpm mark. It vibrates more when under load (eg going up a hill).

The car stood for just over a year. Could it be the prop-shaft bushes?...or the auto box???

Thanks for the reply, It happens in all gears. Last night the auto box was a bit lazy and didn't change down right away so I felt the vibration at about 1500rpm...

It seems like it could be a drive issue...

Engine --> Gearbox ---> Propshaft ---> Diff ---> Half Shafts

The maximum torque in the 120d is at 2000 rpm. I'm thinking something to do with mountings somewhere along the line.

Still need to take it to my local mechanic. I'll see if he can reset it?

I was also thinking something along those lines...
I got under the car the ther day to see if there was ant play in the prop shaft but it was rather difficult getting to it and there's no way i can put the same force on it just by pushing on it

I've had a similar vibe on my 120d Steptronic for a long time now, although being an '08 model, it has a completely different engine/gearbox to your car. It can be intermittent though and you really have to look for it. I just haven't had the time to allow the dealer to keep the car for a few days, in order to finally diagnose the problem. Mainly happens in third gear, under load around 2.5-2.7k, although a certain roughness can be felt in motorway cruising in top gear too. Please PM me if you finally manage to trace your car's problem.

I chatted to a mechanic friend of mine. He sad it's most likely my engine mounts. Could also be a vibration damper (can't remember his exact words) on the prop-shaft. He should hopefully be able to look at the car next week. He'll also reset my gearbox/do a software upgrade. I'll let you know what he finds...
