120d 05' trade in for 320i 07'

Morning Everyone

I'm busy doing a trade in on my BMW 120d E87 05' model for a BMW 320i E90 '07 model at Auric Auto in Claremont.

The 320i Odo Reading: 105,506km whereas my 1 Series has 167 000km

The reason for wanting to do a trade is that the 1 series boot space is not big enough for a wheelchair whereas the 320i is. I just want to know from anyone what you think about this trade in.

However:

1. What is sales price of 320?
2. What will be the balance outstanding after the trade in?

I maybe interested in your 120d...but before you trade it not after.

1. Total price is R148,900.00
2. Auric Auto is settling the outstanding balance on my 1 series which is R104,000

Thing thing is I was looking around for a 320d and the ones I found required a deposit of which I don't have, So I gave Auric Auto a call yesterday to get the retail and trade value of my car, and they advised me of the 320i that they have and can do a trade in

I couldn't afford a new one either, but i am well impressed with the performance of the turbocharged 116i.

I digress, the 320i is a good buy and the N46 is a relatively good motor. You'll miss the performance of the 120d though, but for the sake of having a relatively newer car, i think it is a good proposition.

According to them, there's no amount to pay in and its over 72 months, to accomodate the amount im able to pay every month

I will miss the performance of the 120d, but I cant take it anymore to wait for a wheelchair at malls as mine dont fit in the boot

I didnt evens know this hey, im not clued up with these things, I'll wait out this weekend. I attached the proposal of the 320i from Auric Auto

Its worse than what i suspected. Their interest is at 9% over 72 months which brings your new balance to R194,400. This is a huge amoumt to pay on interest. Technically, you will be paying R343,400 in total for the 320, which is a crazy amount to pay for an "old" car. Rethink the sale and your monthly repayments or try and sell the 120d so you can offset the 320 with the 120d sale.

in my opinion id say try find a 320d, just be a little more patient, you not obligated to purchase the 320i at this point. there are many 320d's which come into the dealers weekly and im sure they wouldnt be fussy about settling your 120 and it could well work out to the same installment as the i. why i say a 320d is because from d to i HUGE difference. i bought a 320i and thought id be ok having less power and am left dissapointed i didnt take the d. never-the-less the 320i is a lovely and reliable car.. just after a 120d i dont think anyone would be as happy with the 320i as they'd thought.

also, please check this site and type in the last 7 digits of the VIN. When i did it on this 320i, it said it was a 12/2006.

for me 54months is the most,and in some cases its only a couple of hundred rand cheaper a month over 72.

also try and pay off more in a month to finish it off sooner

I don't know why you mention this in this post because further up Will mentioned that the 72month-ish installment is what he could afford.

I suggest, b1gwill, you go ahead with that specific finance option if it is what you can afford. Don't 'en-debt' yourself unnecessarily any more than what is currently the case.
