A brief update. The ice tank as was mentioned before was fitted. Its basically a tank that circulates the charge coolers coolant around the back of the car. This increases the volume of coolant in the system with the benefit of being able to add ice in the tank for high powered runs. Without the ice I have seen a 7 degrees C drop in charge temperatures which I am happy with.
Cosmetically I have tinted the windows and am going to blacken out the chrome pieces on the car next.
The motor has now done 5000km and the oil use is close to stock. It smoked for a while but it seems the car was overfilled with oil and once the oil burnt to the level required it only smokes from the tires.:roflol:
The Merc LSD diff is not managing. The clutches are slipping giving the rear end a loose feel similar to worn bushings. This is evident from third and up and it makes the car scary to drive. I have landed a Wavetrack LSD diff which will be installed soon and is a tried and tested solution on similar powered Mercs.
I also had a lambda sensor go. It seems when we drained the gearbox oil to put the right oil in (thanks Merc for supplying the wrong oil even with the vin number) the wires to the lambda where bent and eventually it threw a code. I bought a Bosch unit at close to half the price.
I have run the car up to 19psi now using VP109 unleaded race fuel at R1500 for 19L and the car is super fast. Faster than I would have imagined it to be. Although it is very refined in the way it pulls what is a eye opener is when tapping off at 250 after a full blast the car has enough momentum at that point to accelerate to 260.
