10 Things that I love and hate about my m240i convertible

Let’s start with the things I love:

1. Speed:
This thing is fast, proper fast. I absolutely love the endless acceleration! 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds, every drive puts a smile on my face!
2. Sound:
My M240i is fitted with the BMW M Performance exhaust system. It was worth every cent. The longer I’ve used the exhaust the burples are becoming more prominent, and man I love that!
3. Apple Car Play:
I mean, wireless Apple car play - This is the best thing since sliced bread. Using Waze as the primary app also helps highlighting where possible “obstacles” might be.
4. Color and M Performance exhaust tips:
I’ll admit that Sunset Orange was not my first choice. But when I fetch the vehicle at the dealership and I saw the sun reflecting and highlighting all the curves, it was love at first site. I can honestly say: that feeling has not changed. And the carbon exhaust tips, we’ll just look at it, It’s flipping awesome.
5. ZF8 Automatic gearbox:
It is extremely smooth and super responsive. I take a lot of flack for preferring this over a manual, but face the facts: it’s faster, more fuel efficient and higher resale value. I’ll take these facts over feeling more connected any day.

Now for the 5 things I hate about my M240i

1. Wind noise:
When the roof is down there is an insane amount of wind noise at the seatbelt assembly. Anything over 80km per hour is unbearably loud. The entire vehicle seems so aerodynamic and then the the engineers remembered we need seatbelts...
2. Remotely opening the roof:
The key and mobile app does not open the convertible roof. In both my Porsche Boxster S and BMW 335i this is a standard feature. I do know however that the BMW comfort access has this as a feature but my vehicle did not come fitted with this option.
3. BMW Motorplan:
This one is a little tongue and cheek. I am frustrated that the BMW Motorplan prevents me from adding a charge pipe and performance tune. I do completely understand their rationale. And to be honest: I’ll choose reliability over performance 9 times out of 10. I would have loved if BMW had these as M Performance options though.
4. Apple Carplay:
Why do I have to pay for this service? Most entry level vehicles nowadays comes with this as a standard option? Seriously BMW?

I don’t have a number 5. Number 3 and 4 were nitpicking as a stretch already...

The truth is that I love this car, I love the feeling I get when I drive it, and I love the looks I get when it makes all the right noises.

Great car. You can code roof opening via remote.

I saw that it was an option with bootmod3 but that simple change (that will make the world of difference) will render my motorplan null and void...

No, you don’t need bootmod, just a enet cable and esys. Coding won’t affect MP. Where are you based?

I am based in Sandton.

This looks pretty cool - I just want to find out what BMWSA says about this effecting my MP. They are not messing around lately...
