Hi Guys

Just got my car back after turbo replacement 2009 N54 78Kkm manual. Now their is sound on cold start ups like a fan is rubbing on something and an oil leak, car seemed a little down on power as well.

What could be causing this ? the car is at the dealer now no feedback yet. let me list the issues thus far

1) Service fixed
2) Clutch replacement fixed
3) Turbo went fixed
4) MFS module replaced fixed and sound system was not sounding as good as it was originally this issue is still around
5) Oil leak - current
6) Rubbing sound from engine bay on cold start up - current
7) down on power - current

Although still on MP i am not a happy chappy, i hardly ever get to drive my car as it is at the dealer for repairs 5th time now at the dealer in 2months.

Just needed to vent.

sorry to hear bout your unfortunateness buddy
are you the owner from new?
seems to me it was abused, from what I know none of the issues stated above are common with that sort of mileage
perhaps trade it in

I was not the owner from new and i think you right. Yes decisions decisions, what to do. But the dealer did find it was the oil filter housing that was worn apparently, so yeah will wait to hear from them on the other noises.

One thing I'm learning slowly with these n54s. ...patience.... yes it's difficult to practise patience, but try. It's so damn rewarding when the cars is back to where you want it.

Also....BMW mech are useless, I've learned that the hard way. If it doesn't throw a fault and the computer doesn't say whats wrong, they will not necessarily take the extra step to diagnose the problem. What does help, is for you to start equipping yourself with the knowledge of your car. I am by no means an expert, but over the last two months the fanatics from the forum such as kish, twinz and German Spec have helped me loads along the way. Once you learn and know what to look out for, you feel less frustrated, and might even be bold enough to start giving the car the attention it deserves.

Hope your woes get sorted soon bud....fanatics love our cars too much, and dealerships don't understand this. For us...it's a passion for the brand, to them....you just a number.... That's the sad part.

N54's and N55's are temperamental little *********, you're gonna have plenty sleepless nights, whether it's worth it or not depends on each individual......

Lol i am now seriously considering selling the car, I was at WOT meaning nailing it and the power steering fails, needless to say i had to throw away my under wear. Back to the dealer I go and I am not impressed with the service thus far. Have taken the car there now numerous times and have not once got a courtesy car.

I am very frustrated but as i have asked in other posts what do you get to replace this car, when it works it is a monster. Have driven other vehicles (performance cars) and they don't cut it. So i guess i will suck it up and keep my car.

Maybe just to mention something in line with what Firoze posted, if one asks an incompetent person to deliver impeccable service, then its a recipe for frustration.

You are just never going to be satisfied whats being delivered and it will frustrate you to no end. The dealership is currently your cause of frustration. Not the car. If the issue was properly diagnosed from the start you would be telling us all what an awesome car it is and that you had one small problem thus far but nothing else.

Get a second opinion somewhere else or let one of the fanatics have a look.

I've learnt to rather TELL the dealership what to do than ASK them what to do.

Get rid of the car and replace it with another 135i that works!

Get rid of the car for a 335 or another 135 while the mileage is still low.

There are dealers out there willing to help.

Maybe once contact Vader on the forum if you want to get out of the car. He's a BMW dealer.

Thanks bud I think I will be doing that soon, if the dealer messes me around again, I am definitely going that route.
