1 Series Key Fob problem

Hallo All

I dropped my key fob last week and after that, at times it struggled to lock/unlock the car.
Now it decided not to work at all, does anyone know if this can be fixed or will it be better for a replacement ?
The spare still works fine.

It can be fixed, but in order to do so it needs to be cut open and then glued back together after you done. It's pretty hard to make the repair look good afterwards to be honest. Doing a replacement key isn't that expensive, so I'd recommend going that route rather.

Could guessed that it would need to be cut open , that was one of my dillema's.

Thanks for the response.

I'm curious... What would fixing it entail? Is it just one or two solders, a mere battery replacement, or something a bit more complex than that?

I better be careful , I've drop my key a few time...

Just curious , did it stop working completely? besides locking and unlocking if you plug in the ignition does it still read?

I dropped it once on Friday. Had a bit of issues with it Friday and Saturday. On Sunday me stupid dropped it again, It stopped working completely. my guess is the battery might have moved a bit, should be a simple fix if i can get the replacement blade that Charl has posted. It still reads , starts the car but none of the buttons is working anymore.

Have to open it to see what is wrong with it but has to be cut open as Ratslaaf has mentioned so haven't tried that yet. If i cut it open now it would be a problem if i need it to start the car.

Cut it open, fix it and replace the outer cover with something like this.

Thank you man, will make a plan, this might help a lot. Will try this before buying a new unit.

I replaced the housing when I replaced the battery on my e60 fob.
Just keep in mind you get very cheap housings/covers on eBay, but as usual, you get what you pay for so look for the better quality ones.
