'07 Z4 M Coupe issues

Howzit guys. I've got a '07 Z4 M Coupe. A year before the m.plan expired, I picked up a ticking noise from the engine. Initial diagnosis pointed out that the shimming needed to be re-adjusted. A year later, and four months post m.plan expiry, BMW SA changed the vanos system as part of a goodwill gesture as I initially brought up the issue before m.plan expiry. However, the ticking noise is still there, and BMW SA want nothing to do with it. Can anyone please lend any advise on this matter, it'll be greatly appreciated?

Vishaal,

There is only one option and that is to send your car to A1exander (Peter) on this forum. He will check and reset the valve clearances properly, and in additional will fix and future proof your vanos from the common issues that will happen even on your new vanos (Rattle kit, degrading seals, oil pump disc).

It will be money well spent.

The ticking noise is most likely valves. Valve clearances too tight. Peter aka A1xander can do it for you. He goes highly recomnended

You are either listening to valve train noises due to large clearances or the spline shafts are rattling.
Valves clearances are safe rattling spline shafts are dangerous as they can lead to broken tabs on the oil pump gearbox.

Here is what a broken tab looks like :http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=56491

Once it reaches that stage the fix will run into nearly R30k parts and labour.

Waived my magic wand and Set 20 of the 24 valves I think.
All of the valves were loose

Hush puppy comes to mind and Vish is as happy as a troopie in a house of ill repute.
