As you all know I have had a bouncing Iddle for a few weeks. After meeting with the big Z we read codes cleared and waited 2 weeks to read again. We did this to c if any funny codes pop up.

So the other night we read codes and got 2D29 all pointing to some vacuum leak. Big Z also heard a "sucking Noise" and gave me some advice as to where to look.

So today got home let the car cool as I want this solved before saturday for Dastec and here is what I found.

this pipe was leaking

I have baught a shrot term replacement till the Am tom so that I can get the part from The stealers as the Midas one is a tad to big (1 /2 mm) and is still leaking and cuasing serious rough Iddle.

Once I got the replacement I will post to let you know if the problem is solved.

I hope this helps other out there. :)

my car also has a rough idle. when i sent it for diagnostics those guys told me it was a O2 sensor
but if the O2 sensor is damaged wont the engine management light come on? :dunno:

I think i need to check my pipes :)

Engine light is triggered for 02 sensor...fck all to do with idle as far as i know :dunno:
I have a rough idle but i think its caused from branches and freeflow :)
Will check that same pipe now though...seems more rough than normal, i always suspected MAF...

As I did this tonight I will report back as the vacuum leak seems gone but rich Petrol Smell in garage. Will c after tom's driving, sure PC needs time to reset.

Spy,

A reset of the adaptive settings may solve that, remember that the motor has been overcompensating with the leak. Also driving a couple of km's (Say 200) and it should come right, although I am seriously speculating on this, but it sounds plausable that the engine could be overfueling.

I suspect this aswell as it was running rich.

Is there a short quick way to 'reset of the adaptive settings may solve that'

Il drive like I stole it in the am and c what happens. I also suspect these cats have GOT TO GO VERY VERY SOON

Ok Now have done the following. Addaptive reset..... Disconnected batery.....And went for quick drive. Had the consumption running at 20/100km/l. Wifes tales or not there is a definate better pull. Might be the pipe is now fixed or what ever.

But I know the Idle bounce is gone.

So lets give it some time, do Dastex and C.

A2 Lunitic.

If you look at the first pic it is just above the Manifold. There is a funky plastic cover that you have to take off. Il find the pick with it on and hopefully that helps.

Below the cover next to the Dipstic (red).

Hi

Did the cover go back on alright? That replacement pipe looks a tad healthier than the OEM.. Also, did you come right with the heat wrap??

HAHAHA :biglol: My pipe looked exactly the same! That bugger really scared me, strange thing is the car was driving ok with it.. maybe it was compensating.
