Bearings out - Refreshing my 2008 E92 M3 6spd

So,with mileage climbing and me not wanting to get rid of my E92 M3, I decided to get the bearings changed along with a new oil pump and chain. After getting it on the ramp - bearings were on the table within a couple of hours. :rollsmile:

Take a look... No 7 was suspect & would have definitely failed. But all in all, not bad shape. Shows, 10k service intervals & Mobil1 worked for me. Here's to another 100,000km!!!!

Mileage is mid 90's. Yup, i expected worse. But im glad its been done. Shows not all M's are bearing munchers. Maintenance should be much more than just waiting for the computer to tell you...

Those bottom bearings are sort of the same wear marks as mine. The big skrik I got was what the top bearings looked like. I'm assuming you've not removed those yet?

From what point in its life have you started the 10k service intervals?

Last 50,000km. I did the same on my m6 v10... Had the car since 29000km up until 98000km. I always did an in between service. Never had engine trouble with that car.

So mobil1 0W40 from 40k to 90k?
What about dealer services? 10W60?

Bought my M3 out of plan. On the m6..correct.. i used mobil1 0w40, dealer used TWS.

For anyone interested, these are the other bearings. So ya, copper showing. Im lucky. If you have an M3 or M6 and are close to or over 100,000km. Do the bearing job. Cost should be approx R40k using OEM parts.

good for you man! damn R40k..looks like the plan to own 1 of these is slowly slipping away..you can't neg. it off the asking price so would have to factor in when buying. thats a used Rolex

Nice catch nish, although those bearings are MINT compared to others we've seen.

I'm biding my time and enjoying mine, still on 53000km, will get bearings done once she goes out of plan in 2017

Must admit - on advice from overseas forums, ive been using Torco in my car after i read that low octane fuel also causes kak. So im going to stick to that. Seemsto have helped.

100%, i am waiting patiently for the Dyno night in 2 weeks and am gonna be trying OB1, if results are decent I will be sticking to it for every tank
