E90 egr pressure converter

Hey Guys,

So my car(E90 320d) has the egr delete but I picked up a strange noise from the egr pressure converter when I switch the car off.

Stealers want +- R1800 from the egr pressure converter

Since I already have the egr delete, can I not simply disable/remove the egr pressure converter as well or will this give me more issues.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the culprit below

Is it a buzzing/whining noise, sounding as it something is still running and goes away after 15seconds plus?

Yep. buzzing/farting kinda noise and you can hear it when the car is idling and when you switch it off you can hear it and it fades away

Nothing major wrong there, it's the EGR sleeve that's torn, it's an easy fix buddy.

Don't stress about it, when it get a chance get it sorted.

Update:

So I unplugged the pressure converter(Thanks Andy) and the noise disappeared but it came back again.(inidicated on the picture)

On the pressure converter there is an inlet pipe, when i applied pressure on this pipe, the noise stopped but after a while it came back. (indiciated on picture as the issue)

I am going to cut the inlet pipe and block it off so this noise stops and I will also unplug the pc power.

Thanks to King Andy for his help!

If you want to take it one step further you can block off the vacuum lines on the vacuum manifold and remove the pressure converter alltogether (weight saving FTW)

That's what I've done on the 330d's. Yes there are codes but nothing that negatively impacts performance. Only improves it.

if you want to take it even another step further you can measure the resistance of the pressure converter over its connector pins with a multimeter, then substitute for the converter with a 1/2 or 1watt resistor of the closest value to the measured coil resistance, you can by pushing its legs into the connector, or if you want to really be fancy cut the plug off and solder the resistor onto the wire pair and put a piece of heatshrink over it..

then you wont even have the error code :)

I had the buzzing from the pressure convertor after replacing my egr with a bypass valve. The egr had been removed from the ecu. I have unplugged the pressure convertor and blocked off both pipes.

You engine management light will come on and the fault code is P1286 if this is also deleted from the ecu everything will work as it should :)
