So this is what convinced me on the M550i. I test drove this 1 and was blown away with the performance, features and looks. Everything was just right

But I have secretly lusted over the 8 series GC since I stupidly let go of my M6 GC a few years ago. But the 850s were always a little out of my price range. This one came up at the right price, right deal structure, so it was a no brainer for me. And the spec list is 3 pages long.

Thanks gents. I must admit it was a bolt out of the blue. But at the price point and what BMW offered for trade and on the deal it was a no brainer. Been doing a lot of research on the 850 over the last few days and I am really impressed by the reviews. I think this is also me admitting that my M days are over and the "lites" are my future. If it had been an M then I wouldn't have been in the dog house, more likely court room 8 at the Randburg magistrates courts processing a divorce. But on just about every review I've read or watched, the 850 seems to be a very good choice and a great car. So just busy arranging the delivery up to JHB with SMG and the 550 being sent to Durbs, so should take delivery next week which I am fine with, lets the fire and brimstone die down a bit 👀

I really am unnecessarily hard on her, but it's like a comedian who rips his wife off in front of an audience. She's an amazing woman and I am very lucky to have her (she doesn't know this forum exists luckily).

So delivery on Friday. SMG have expedited transport for me, got me a discount with MIE, picking up at Woodmead Auto on Friday. Very impressed with the woman at SMG, she was super sharp. Basically did the whole deal over WhatsApp and email. Fantastic finance deal (prime -0.25%, which surprised me), so now I can relax, get excited and hope Friday comes fast.

I'm glad you cleared that up, I was busy putting a contingency in place! But yeah she has been absolutely brilliant. A bit sad I won't be in Durban to collect and meet her, but she is incredibly efficient and communicative. Very impressed!

The 8 series are stunners IMO and their optional extras often seem to be ticked quite nicely!

Looking forward to some pictures and feedback on she she compares to the M550i. I wouldn't expect much difference though, maybe I am wrong.
