I’ve got a grinding noise on my bmw x3 20d 2016 xdrive
I can feel it at my feet
I’ve put new tyres on
Taken for wheelbearings checked
Propshafts checked
Diffs checked
Can’t place it
Went to ZF for gearbox and transfer case check
Nothing
Any advice
I’m in the Western Cape
Where can I take it

Hi,

What is the current mileage and what mileage did the issue start?

I had a very peculiar thing with my car where as when i pulled away it would sort of slip for a second (felt as if i drove over a broomstick is the best way to describe it) and then everything would be fine. Eventually took it to a testing station where they tested the suspension on their plate machine and found nothing wrong. I then went to Kosie Swanepoel who directed me to this guy that services Porches and BMW's. He took the car for a spin and after pulling away immediately said it was engine mountings. Took the car into his workshop and his mechanic looked at the engine whilst he put it in gear and revved it with the foot on the brake. Was definitely engine mountings. I replaced them with genuine BMW mountings and the one on the left side was actually dangling in the rubber. It was completely broken! Take your car to this guy. His business is Wentzel Motor Works in Stikland.
