Removing the guibo was the easy part, the shaft splits in two. The bad part is removing the centre bearing, bought myself a decent bearing puller, now to install it back.

Guibo and Centre bearing back in place, car up and running again, without exhaust (The rude Awakening). Will go to an exhaust shop next week to assist in installing it again. you need at least two people to get the four bolts in place on the front knuckle. Will be a bit difficult under a car without a lift.

Hallo All

So the car started Smoking intermittently, sometimes none and at other times sommer a huge pile of smoke.
After doing some home work, the snail inlets is quite wet for some time now, replacing the vent hoses will not help this.
The Earlier S63 engines had this oil seperator cartridge(Circeled above) built inside the valve covers, At agents they sell them as a kit, valve cover gaskets with bolts included.

Ordered the kit last week, work keeping me busy so will probably fetch tommorrow. Hoping this will stop the smoking issue.Valve covers.jpg

Keen to see the result of this, in what way is the car smoking, constantly on idle, or when coming to a stop? mine is again smoking, but not as bad as before, but on deceleration almost at a stop, when i give it gas again, i see the smoke still. not always, but sometimes.

Will update once done, might only be done in two weeks. your car unfortunately does not have this.

Browsed Real OEM on M6 ( and if i guessed right ) but not on your vin and found this, so it might be it on yours but it does not list a part # for it.

On your car if it was anything to do with crank ventilation , you should be able to see it at your snail intake. Mine has quite a lot of traces of oil. On previous pics you posted about yours, they were clean and dry. These engines can be tricky because there are so many reasons it can smoke.

Currently after a long highway drive it is not smoking but can smell the oil burning, town driving after a while , sure the oil accumulate and start smoking again in town driving, and currently the way it smokes is never the same.

never constantly on idle, only some times, some times coming to a stop. before the oil it was smoking too but Fuel not oil, so make sure of this.

Thanks man, yea I checked online a few times and I don't see these listed, nor can I find anything internationally on a forum, as well as them ever being brought up in topic.

As you said also, my turbo inlets are not oily. So the PCV system is fine by the looks of it.

Only thing I can think of trying, is undo the PCV lines to the inlet boxes, and drive the car a bit, I've seen a video where the guys smoking stopped, and showed him the PacV line was an issue, granted not a BMW, and also his car was smoking constantly at idle.

So my PCV lines being new, I doubt would be the culprit.

Last night got me thinking, if your PCV system would be faulty your snails would be dry. Looking at the diagram your pCV inlet is after the turbo inlets , at the throttle body. So it might be your PCV system or those oil seperators. I mean, your wngine was completely rebuilt and the valve stem seals were done. Do you smell the oil though ?

The two pics above is how mine is running completely different from yours.
Yea yours is routed completely differently. i know there are some innate differences on the XxM variant S63 cars.
Like the injectors in the early model are the same injectors as the N54 uses. also, on my car, the Fuel rails are one complete unit, whereas yours, the fuel rails are like the n54/55, whereby you can remove each individual line for the injector from the rail. makes fixing leaks so much simpler. without having to remove the entire rail hidden under all the electronics etc. lol

So fetched the kit today. Will be able to start with this only in a wek or two, From the look of thing wont be a quick task but one that will take some patience and time to get to the actual valve covers to remove and replace the oil seperators. The check valves is built into these. Hence most of the time replacing only the PCV lines does not remedy the oil burning issue.

All the best man.

I've done some research on your vs my motor.

I do have Oil Separators in my engine, however, unlike your S63, mine has them built into the Valve Cover, and as such, need to buy the valve covers as a whole complete unit.

Your S63 valve covers are different to mine, but also yours is the earliest S63 available. So that is a shame.

I've also been told that the oil Separators when they fail or need replacing, do intermittently make smoke, and can be incorrectly diagnosed as PCV hoses, and/or turbo issues.

So it is something to consider.

Good luck with the replacement.
