Help with e36 DME

I know these cars are old now, and nobody really has the tools for these cars any more e36 M3. I'm looking for someone who can read my DME on the bench? Is there anyone in Cape Town that is able to read this DME on the bench? It is a MSS 50 Siemens DME. From a e36 M3 3.2 S50B32 engine. I'm just looking for someone who will be able to read the DME on the bench. I would like to retrieve the ISN number from the DME as I would like to delete the EWS on this vehicle, I am in possession of an EWS emulator but in order for me to achieve this I need to know what the ISN number is in the DME first.

Is there anyone in Cape Town that can help me out here please. Any suggestions or recommendations will be very much appreciated. I am aware of combined electronics and a few other guys but they are asking an arm and a leg to have the EWS coded out completely. I am merely looking for someone that can read the ISN number from the DME I can take it from that point further. I don't see the point in paying someone to perform the exact thing that I want to achieve when I am already in possession of the emulator that is going to achieve the exact same result. Don't get me wrong, I dont not want to not pay anything or want anything done for free, I am happy to pay but then I would like to pay for exactly what it is I'm looking for not some other method. Which is usually the more costlier route. I am in possession of the emulator I might as well use it or else it will go for waste.

So anyone that is able to bench read an MSS 50 please get in contact with me 082357400 or just reply to this thread

Thank guys

If you don't mind me asking. Why would you want to delete the ews.

If you have a k+dcan cable you could do it yourself. You'd need to download some software . One is free and allows to do more than just disabling the ews on the dme . The other is a flasher which needs to be bought.
I was told that you'd need to cut some wires on the ews itself. I didn't do that and I'm using another dme without any problems .

I don't think it's as easy as snipping a few wires and boom, gone in 60 seconds, lol it's a little bit more involved than that. I believe you have a DME from a E36 that is an older model that did not come from the factory with ews I think from 1995 onwords ews came standard but pre 1995 there was no EWS present and I think your ECU is probebly one of those. It's usually from a 325i and has a burgendy sticker on it with the numbers 413 on it.

My problem that I'm having is for some or other reason after leaving my car battery to discharge somehow my ews is no longer linked with my ECU but I'm just so ghatvol that I just want to get rid of this damn ews entirely

Regarding the cable you speak of already have it, but have not been able to get it to communicate with the E36 and the software called inpa isn't as user friendly. I find it far easier to connect to e46 than E36 even with the 20 pin adapter

To be precise I bricked the eeprom on the original dme . Got a replacement from a 528i , transferred the eeprom and with some trickery got it to work . So now the vin on the dme doesn't match the original but it works .

If you're interested in how I've done it . Look up romraider and have a look at "control bits" to delete ews . But start off with openms41 . All info is on their site on how to establish connection and how to read and write to the dme .

To make things even more interesting. Once your able to establish a connection and you can read and write on the dme . You'd then have full tuning access as well.

Strangely enough i was actually reading up about this last night, I followed the link and it took me to the romraider site, where someone developed a very small but useful program to write the ISN in the EWS or something to that effect. Seems like a very useful thing to be able to do. What I don't quite understand is if it will work with MSS 50 because almost all the different threads pertain to some form of MSS 4.1 or 4.xx or literally every other version you get but nothing or nobody made any suggestion of whether or not the same can be applied to MSS 50 yet, i really don't want to brick mine because finding another DME for a e36 M3 3.2 ain't gona be cheap

Check with Damian at ATM if you haven't already, he'll probably be able to assist.

Is this a specific place called ECU repairs in Cape Town?
No bud, there are a ton of ecu repair places just call and get prices. To bench read the ecu you probably gonna have to open it and use probes if you unable to read it with the cable and most diy guys arr not going to have the probe pin tool.

The second tool I mentioned (flash and read) is from here https://www.bimmertuningtools.com/product/mss5x-quickflash/
There is a one click option to disable the ews .

Follow the video on that page . It shows you how to do it .
If you don't succeed email them directly. I've faced certain problems in the past and they helped solved it amicably.

I also serched up on romraider. Odly nobody there mentioned anything. I'll have a look on their discord channel. Lots of activity there . No one really uses the forum anymore.
If I'm permitted to paste this here . Here is an invite to their channel https://discord.gg/bFD8P6ZN have a look under mss5x . Their is also a pinout on the mss50 dme which I stumbled upon .
