Been a while since my last post, but time to seek some collective wisdom and advice.
At first I thought it was just normal to have high fuel consumption (18L/100) upward considering it is a 4.9l v8 and does a few run around trips in the suburbs from time to time, but have noticed the following:
- Consumption has worsened
- Idle hunts a lot more than she use to, has reached a point where it will cut off
- Black smoke from exhaust when standing still
- Distinctive smell from the exhaust
- does have a real pop/bang from time to time (not the ecu controlled
)
My thoughts are that all the above points to over fuelling. My initial thoughts are possibly
- spark plugs
- some sort of sensor or plug
- fuel pump (does have a high pressure pump that was fitted a few years back)
In any case was hoping someone on the forum would have some thoughts and how to go about remedying it. Also is there someone reputable that can run diagnosing on these?
