Hi Guys, just a quick update from the mech, He said that he disconnected the swirl flaps. This was last week Thursday, on Friday no smoking. Parked the car off for Saturday and Sunday, cold start today, no smoking and no burnt diesel smell. I'm hoping that this has resolved the issue...

They were probably jammed in place with excess carbon build up...

Hey bro, been a while, thanks for the reply, so should it be removed?
It serves a purpose so I would rather get the swirl flaps replaced. They come as part of the intake mani gasket which is a relatively cheap fix. In conjunction I would do a full intake mani and EGR clean.

Software will disable the EGR system but you would still have carbon buildup from the valve being active all this time.

Thanks for the reply, Ok so what if I remove the EGR and do the software delete and update?

on the n57 - the swirl flaps are integrated within the intake, a different design to the n47t

cheap option = swirl flap delete kit

expensive option = brand new intake manifold
