Personally, halogens would be a deal breaker for me. Or maybe I'm just being picky and vainšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Same here but OP is coming from a 2012 Civic so will probably be fine with it.

It is a poverty spec car but I think the mileage and balance of plan is the most important factors to OP.

Thanks all for your inputs, tomorrow will be the real proof, just hope I can trust the dealer. They wanted me to put down a R100k deposit to secure the deal... this without even seeing the car.

That’s weird. They told me BMW has a R5k deposit policy to hold the car for about 3 days.

I was on the same mission looking either for a 2015-2017 X1 20D or Mini Countryman S 2017-2019. (Didn't look for a Countryman D which uses the same engine, as they are for some reason never specced with LED headlights, and i refuse to pay more than 200k for a car with halogens)

I also read all those reviews and reports of extra road noise. I feel they do make a tad more road noise from the front wheel wells than say an F25 or F30. Not sure if due to less sound insulation or sound deadening around the arches.

I ended up with a Countryman due to more value for money as they are all way better specced comapared to an X1.

Im curious once i move to normal tires the difference it will make.

How do you guys like this for service..... put in leave, show the sales guy the money is in my bank account, arrange for insurance... just to be told at 18:30 the car is sold now.... that dealership wont see or hear from me!

Had this issue before. It sucks! Sorry to hear, but something better is waiting for you. Be patient, you will find it.

The low mileage on that seems unbelievably low.
My 2016 is on 104k and that’s still only an average of about 13k kms a year. Which is on the lower side.

It is a blessing! It wasn't meant to be. Means something better is waiting for you.

Go drive a few, no matter the mileage. Get a feel for them
Drive a S-Drive, drive a X-drive. Test one with different extras then you will know what you can actually get if you are patient.
Very good advice thanks, last BMW i drove was a 330D. What a beast of a machine.

Sorry mate!

These things happen so don’t take it to heart. Patience is the name of the game when going pre-owned. In the meantime, just take some time to figure out the perfect spec’d car for you. This will help you to immediately dismiss cars that don’t meet this without having to go all out to see it. You will also learn what is a good deal and what is not based on price and spec. Dealer pricing in the second hand market can be all over the place.

Devil’s advocate mode on:
It’s a tough situation for dealers too. Not all interest is a sale so when they have more than 1 person looking at the car, they have to give it to the first one who signs on the dotted line. For all they know, you could be a tyre kicker or you get there and you don’t like the car.
Devil’s advocate mode off.

Yes I do understand that. Thats the downfall staying in remote areas, no dealers close by to do propper homework and go test diffrent vehicles.

Same here street lights in jhb these days are few to non existent, and halogen sucks balls in dark tree covered streets.
