technical MyBMW app not sending destination to car

Hi

My 2018 X3 G01 has Connected Drive. Some Connected Drive features have expired. I purchased the Connected Drive Booster bundle and it reinstated the main features (besides Concierge).

I can now use the MyBMW app on my Android phone to find my car on the map, turn on the hooter/lights, unlock/lock the car, see how much fuel is remaining, etc.

However, the app does not allow me to send destinations from my phone to the car. The app says that there is no active subscription when I try to find destinations to send to car. This makes no sense to me, since I have all the main Connected Drive features activated, which includes Remote Services, Navigation and Real time traffic.

Sent an email to BMW.

Anyone knows what the issue is?

And if I recall correctly through the BMW online portal auch.

Have you tried doing it through a browser, with BMW online?

That app for me has been very buggy from the beginning. It often doesn’t do a command and then a few days later it does.

What is the official BMW online portal address for SA cars?
The one that I can see just shows me the Connected Drive packages that my car has.

I tried looking for it but they have overhauled and updated all their sites. I ended up going round in circles.

Same here.
Will call BMW Genius tomorrow.
The rest of the features work well. However, I will never recommend unlocking a car remotely in SA!
The remote hooter and lights flasher is nifty.

I use the remote lock and unlock quite often.

When I go to my car at a Carwash I’ll unlock it as I approach so that I can put stuff in the boot and then go get the key.

I was also out of country once and needed a colleague to drop something off for me. So I had them find my car in long term parking. He called me, I unlocked and then he hung around to make sure it locked again.

I’ve also used the remote lock unlock for when I was in a meeting and the wife has needed to stop at the office to swap the car seat out.

BMW emailed this solution:

Regarding your query, we would like to kindly ask you to make sure you are logged in to your profile inside the vehicle, please do as follows:
  • Go to the Main Menu
  • Select ConnectedDrive
  • Press the option button (which can be found in front of your vehicle’s central armrest)
  • Log In
We also kindly request you to do a “BMW Service Update” inside your vehicle. Please ensure that the vehicle has a stable mobile network connection. To do so, please proceed as follows:

- Go to Main Menu
- Select ConnectedDrive
- Press the “Option” button, which can be found in front of your vehicle’s central armrest.
- Select “Update BMW Services”.

*If you are unable to see the option, please enter into ConnectedDrive, simply highlight “BMW Assistance” and press the “Option” Button

-The “Transferring data” message confirms the commencement of the update.
- Now press “OK” to exit.
???- Switch off your vehicle and wait for one hour in an area with good network coverage for the update to complete. If this is not possible, the update will be completed once the vehicle is switched off for a period of up to one hour.

Please clean as well all the Application Data collected on "MyBMW" App:

  • Please open "My BMW" App
  • Click on" Profile"
  • Select Privacy & Terms
  • And click on Delete All Application Data Collected.
After deleting the data, please uninstall and install the "My BMW" App again

If the previous step does not work, we recommend that you reboot the iDrive:

  • Make sure that the vehicle is stopped, and the engine is running.
  • Press and hold the volume button for 30 to 40 seconds until the screen goes dark.
  • Wait 40 minutes until in the background the system has completely rebooted and try again to establish the connection between your device and the vehicle.
There are no side effects except canceling active navigation and interrupting ongoing phone calls.

My MyBMW app now has the "send to car" functionality enabled (I did not have the follow the procedure above).
It seems that there is a 2 day delay in getting the functionality activated.

I can send directions to BMW via MyBMW App and Google Maps, but it doesn’t pop up automatically on iDrive. I have to go to My Messages on iDrive and select the route.

Is this normal?

I tried sending a destination from Maps to the car this morning

And when I jumped in, it popped up on the screen - I just selected "set as destination"
