Even I am slowly giving up on italian-hunting and looking at GT3s and 2s again with all this Porsche FOMO LOL :ROFLMAO:. Does one hunt for the right ancient 458 or repaired 488 forever or get a much newer GT3 RS (as boring of an option as it is)? (Though is your bucket list purchase supposed to make you feel that way?:ROFLMAO:🙃)

@Salt you know that I will forever be a proponent of keeping the current car and building a slush fund up in an interest-bearing account/investment that will get you ready (sooner than you think) for owning an exciting car out of plan or getting what you 'really' want. It will only improve your options. New things are nice (as is the shopping process sometimes) but once the praise and dopamine hit wears off you will need to live with looking at something that may not be exactly what you wanted and at these levels of spending, that kind of compromise would not work for me.

As much as spending this is now somehow 'normal', Anything R1M+ is not a small amount and it is more than people are paying for houses CURRENTLY or the entire education for their children NOW... and over much longer time frames (I have no doubt someone from Cape Town will reply to this comment and say R1M will get you a shack in Khayelitsha, but anyway the national average house price is R1.4M :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:). You need to look at that item at the end of the day and have zero regrets because the (frankly) poor use of the money had better be offset by the love for the car and not have you longing for the past or wishing for the future... And even in a good few years you should find yourself wondering (as you are with your 140i) whether the upgrade is really worth it :ROFLMAO:. Your indecision in upgrading makes me feel like you actually made the right move with you M140i at the time.

I would do the android auto-compatible head unit you mention, a baller set of seats to keep things interesting for you and watch the bank balance grow 'til I could get into the right thing. Whenever and whatever that may be. It may scratch the itch for a while

All of that, and even more, in a free, non-motor plan-prioritised world.
But for OP, status quo remains: Motor Plan first and foremost 😂

The looks will grow on you.
I think the car looks good in dark colours and would choose it over an M340i 🙈
Not as wild as the M140i, but very quick in an insulated way.

The screens are massive and will give you that technophile experience....

The 2022 models are under R1m and have the smaller screens.

+10000 on this. From all the feedback given here and from the choices listed as replacements I can't agree more.

OK - I've heard you all and to be honest I am still not 100% decided. I test drove an M135i Xdrive this weekend and its was mixed emotions - better than the S4 for context. I must say, those seats are great. The interior is obviously very nice and it even had a pretty good exhaust sound too - I did have the windows down so as not to be completely fooled by artificial sound. It's not slow, but like the S4 is not brutal like the 140. I would actually like to see the 3 of them line up for a standing start sprint. I was under the impression that both the S4 and M135i Xdrive were going to be ragged from a standing start with the 4WD - but certainly doesn't feel that way. Both the M135i and M235i Xdrive cars are very nice looking to me - I like the look - nice colours and lines.

While I sleep on this - I am going to explore some options on the 140 - some points you guys have also suggested. Will start a new thread on that - perhaps it might help someone else in the future too.

Depends what you are after (duh!)

Friend has 240x currently, and loves the speed of it. That aside, finds it a bit dull.

For context - has had many M2s prior to this, and said the M-car, DCT, RWD combination is so much more thrilling.

He is itching to get back into one now.

If I were looking - I'd do same. Same price too, or less (for F87c).

Greetings all. So I've decided to keep the 140 for a whole still. The current options out there in my budget range just didn't do it for me like the 140 does - the F87 was probably the one on the list that would level up in terms of performance, but the 2 doors was just not going to work now. Appreciate all the great advice folks! However, based on some advice received here and some items on my list, I've already changed the runflats out for normal tyres - very noticeable difference in better ride quality. I'm considering another refresh item but keeping that to myself while I think about it. I do want to ask, can an android mmi be picked up during a service? I really want android auto. Once the motor plan runs out I'll probably take out an extended warranty with one of the BMW service plans.

M240 and M340i both amazing. Interiors are much bigger on the G series platform and both spacious. They are both heavy in weight. I love how the M240i looks but M340 does have a more "traditional" BMW look.

S4 B9 is also pretty amazing. If you know Audis then it's pretty much Audi in all aspects. Make sure you get 2020 and later to avoid the rocker arm issue(like the S55 crank hub, it happens but not common per say)

M2/F80/F82 all amazing cars but unless you going to track or spirit drive the twisties, I think a lot of them spend their life in an environment where both cars mentioned above will excel. Also let's not forget about the "M" tax 😂

Have you checked out the Lexus IS-F yet? Not many around, never cheap but it can deliver the goods.

NA V8 FTW!
