Small cosmetic update/refresh.

It has always bugged me how the lower plastic grills are that 'off' matte plastic colour.
Recently had the front lip refreshed (repainted, insets resprayed gloss + clear coated). Over time, they catch and scratch, and I quite like how solid the OEM lip is (with the reinforcement inside it), so figured its not a bad option.

I then decided to remove the bumper to reinforce the middle post of the lip (as the self-tapper doesn't hold as well after a few tugs). So I did a proper job with nuts and bolts and washers, and it's now very solid.

While the bumper was off, I figured why not make it look newer than new, so my friend (CloakedCustoms) and I got to spraying the plastic grills gloss black, and sealing with a clear coat.

We also cleaned up the fog lights and put some laminex on them for tint (but mainly for protection).

I think the front looks BRAND NEW now - I like.

Maybe the car will get faster soon too, who knows..

Looking great man. Nice touches to differentiate it from the other kitted F30s.

Think I know now what to do next on my car. This forum really is to modding bug sufferers the same thing as a bar to alcoholics :ROFLMAO:
Definitely worth it. And really isnt difficult. I hate removing bumpers but was better than expected. Just 2 on inside of fender that can be a pain.
Otherwise was perfect.
while everything is off, gives opportunity to clean out front of car too (dust/bugs/etc) while its 'naked'

Happy 2024 to all the fanatics! Hope it will be a great and fast year!

Updates from IG-dubbed 'Blanco_B58' (low key shoutout).😎

Not sure I have mentioned before how much I LOVE this car (joking, I say it daily)!

December saw us go on the first longer distance (200+km) trip since ownership. Destination was South Coast.

Prior to this (September), she was serviced, Motul LL04 the oil of choice, so peace of mind before going on a longer trip.

What an absolute pleasure! Car did not skip a beat at any point, and we were lucky to travel on cool days, on quiet roads. Could not have been better!

Round trip was just over 1400km and included some 'spirited' driving - to see just how much of a different the sea air makes (dragy runs). Coastal air is pure cheat codes!

(BORING!) Economy was not bad either! Averaged 6.5l/100km down, and 7.1 l/100km back up. Total consumption (dragy runs included), was 7.2l/100km. Did not buy the car for economy, and a far cry from the N57 diesel-sipping life, but I'll take it with a smile.

Even did the typical vaalie car-on-beach photos :ROFLMAO:

- Separating this into parts -

Small post, but something that I'm quite passionate about - GOOD PAINT!

I have posted many many times on this topic, and I don't post much because truth be told I do it because the end result is 🤬 rewarding, but its a lot of work (as anyone that has detailed a car will know). A LOT!

I work on quite a few Land Rovers primarily and do my fair share of detailing during the year.

Anyway, white paint is the 'easiest' because you don't see swirls (paint defects) as easily (they are on your car too, sorry to say), and on darker paint you tend to see a lot more.

Over the years, I have loved the growth aspect of new machines, techniques, compounds, the works. Each car is different and different combinations of product+machine make huge differences.

Proud to say I have been at this for over 5?! years now (on the side), and have a decent amount of kit and equipment (enough to fix any paint disaster at this point).

Anyway - here's one pic as evidence. Go have a look at your own cars paint under direct sun/flashlight, and then you'll see the difference in this before and after. If your car is detailed and ceramic coated/PPF'd, you'll understand and appreciate it a bit more 🫡

Final part (for now) - Performance things.

Intakes on a B58 are silly. Especially on the stock turbo setup. The stock airbox and setup does a perfect job, and there is absolutely no need to change that.............so below is a picture of my CT Carbon Intake 😂

This was a mod that I had absolutely convinced myself not to do. Because, its a total waste of money! (or so I thought)

It was slightly (very) impulsive, but the timing just worked out, and I'm so glad it did.

CT Carbon stock of intakes arrived, I saw them, messaged Dylan, and the rest is history.

The kit build quality is really good (looks identical to the MST intakes and a few others), the fitment is easy and looks pretty OEM+, and Dylan is a really nice guy to work with!

I changed my mindset to "if it doesn't lose power, then we are good". 🤣

The sounds are out of this world - it sounds SO good. I regret NOTHING! (one logging test showed an increase in airflow, so that's cool too)

It is a mod that I enjoy every day. You don't need to be 'on it' to enjoy it. A small amount of throttle and you hear some lovely turbo noises. Boys will be boys.

If you are contemplating it, dala.

Pic below, and I'll get some videos uploaded (I have many!) and post a link soon.

Oh, and we have bm3 on the car now too. 👀#SayNoToObnoxiousColdStart

It just keeps on getting better!

Can only imagine how fun it must be to drive with the intake and bm3

Consumption is also super impressive!
