Congratulations, you found a good one. I'm also scouring the classifieds for a F25 as a replacement for my f30. I was enquiring on this one as well but being in jhb it would have been a blind purchase.

Thanks bud. Apparently, they were inundated with enquiries on the vehicle even while it showed "sale-in-progress". I knew if I did not reserve it immediately after viewing, the next person to see it would buy it.

Small update:

Wife has been using the car daily and enjoying it. I try to steal a drive in as often as I can but find myself running out of road alot.....the 30d is really something else.

Got the gearbox, transfer case and diff services done at BMW.

Decided to get the downpipe done this past weekend:

Chose EDW to have this done after getting some quotes and feedback on the popular Durban exhaust shops from a few friends in the know. Happy with the service and workmanship. Car has a nice grunt on WOT and the turbo whistle is always welcome.

Planning to get Ricardo (RK Motion) to work his magic before the festive but will see if time permits.

More details on the Gearbox service at BMW?

I supplied the oil and sump filter and they charged me labour bud. ZF Pinetown recommended Xrated Performance or Glazier Tech to do the service but I had no experience with either of them so arranged with my buddy at BMW instead.

Its's strange that ZF recommended another workshop rather than doing it themselves.

I suppose this service is only available though a "buddy"
out of interest - what is the cost for a zf8 service these days ?

If you have someone you trust and know what they do its not such a pain.

My cousin is a master tech and diagnostic tech. I have trusted him with my life for as long as I can remember so it was a no brainer. I bought the filter-pan and oil from ZF and he done the service for me.

The oil is the most expensive part compared to the filter. I cant recall the cost now. Will have to check on my invoice.

No, BMW will do the gearbox service if you request. Either labour only or supply and labour.

Glazier Tech was R6000
Ricardo (ex ZF) R5500
Xrated never replied with a price.

Sump filter R 1335.17 ex vat

Paid about R6.8k at ZF Germiston (Jhb) a month back. I supplied the 1ltr of diff oil as well (R1.2k). So R8k in total. I could have done it at other workshops but if ZF is available, makes more sense going through them who are frankly the SME’s here.

Update

Just ticked over 140k kms. Had a halfway and another oil service just completed.

Finally got Ricardo to work his magic last month:

As usual with the numerous cars he has done for myself, family, friends and clients over the years, I couldn't be happier.

All I wanted was better consumption on the car as it is my wifes daily and does local driving most of the time so I told him that.

The most impressive for me is the gearbox flash. If you thought the ZF8 was amazing standard, get a flash done! Super smooth with normal driving and crazy quick in S on wide open throttle. This is via his tune and not xhp but don't think I need to go xhp as I am so happy with it now.

Had this done directly before my bi-annual trip to Welkom, Free State and really enjoyed the drive. Averaged 8.5L/100 sitting flying alot of the way. Got down from Welkom in 5 hours flat.

Waiting to see the consumption on the local runs now that my wife is back at work but already seems at least 1-1.5L/100km lighter than before according to the obc.

Some pics at Phakisa:

Then lastly after hunting for a while, I finally found a set of a oem chrome tailpipes of an F30 340i:

Decided I am going to stick to the 17inch wheels as I will be doing a bit of offroad and the extra meat on the tyres will be needed. Also will be changing to all terrain tyres once the Pirellis are done. Possibly go 225/65R17 for added ground clearance.

Will get the wheels painted next and have a set of slimline windshields in Australia that my relative will bring down end of the year.
