Hi guys,

I have a 420d Coupe 2017 LCI, motorplan expired. Where do you guys get your spare parts from? Directly from BMW? Somewhere else? I need to service my car in November, so would like to do it myself. Just the basic service. Oil, filter, fuel filter. I've googled around, but can't seem to get anything concrete relating to a 420d regarding service parts. I'm also looking to purchase a foxwell NT530 scanner. Is it any good? Just for the basics of resetting services and registering battery.

TIA

Your 4 series should share most mechanical parts with the F30 320d LCI B47 so if searching try that instead.

I try to stick to parts from BMW, alternatively you can look at aftermarket from Goldwagen/Incomex but make sure it is a good German brand like Meyle, Febi etc.

Not sure on the scanner.

You can use BMW as they come down to be almost the same prices as other retailers on parts now, even batteries and tyres too. for your usage, you can just get Carly app and the Carly dongle. does the same and cheap

BMW is so reasonable with their prices just call them and ask for a price on their services. You will find its often just as much if not cheaper than anywhere else. Plus you retain dealer service history. I take this route even though I can do it myself cause I don't have the time and would buy service parts from BMW anyway due to their prices often being cheaper than after market.

PS I don't follow the computer. I service every 10 000km

Yes, I've been doing my homework on this. Seems it's definitely a better route to go. I see BMW are offering a service plan for 3 years. Reasonably priced. Thanks for your input in this matter. Seems my days of doing DIY on cars is over.
